Engobe at Meizengama 明善窯での化粧がけ
For Ilana's new work in collaboration with Kiyoshi Yamato of Meizengama Pottery Studio, engobe was just applied by Kiyoshi-san.
According to Keita Yamato, a potter and the son of Kiyoshi, even though the engobe used is white, because of the mica contained in the clay, there will be black dots emerged once fired.

萩焼窯元・明善窯の大和潔さんとコラボレーション制作させていただくイラナの新作ですが、先日作ったイラナの粘土の形に潔さんが化粧がけをしてくださいました。
陶作家で潔さんのご子息でもいらっしゃる大和佳太さんによると「白化粧をしましたが生地の土に雲母などが入っているため焼成すると黒い斑点が出て来ます。」とのことで、どのようになるかとても楽しみです。
