You really have to ask me why someone would go to war with Alternia?
I wouldn’t say that anyone exactly waged or declare the war, it was just something that shifted into place. Think of it as a chess game that’s stuck a stalemate. A game of chess that has been going on for longer than you or I have been alive, maybe even longer than the oldest living Alternian ancestor that we know of has been alive.
It’s taking place on hundreds of planets throughout dozens of galaxies and celestial neighborhoods.
Why is it happening? Because all the Alternian Empire wants to do is take, and someone has to stand up to the big bully on the courtyard sooner or later.
The long and short of it is that the Cardali have a vast network of allies and planets that are under their care, and being just as, if not more, technologically advanced as the Alternians.. They’re the ones who step up when they try to come in and invade some new place.
They don’t always get there in time to stop the wipeout, that’s true, but they’re always there to help nurse a planet and species back to life in the aftermath.
Formidable, though, when they do get there in time. You won’t find this in the history books, but there are many a battle that the Alternian forces have had to pull themselves out of because it was a fight they could not win.
Cardalith has a strict ‘no eradicating entire species’ policy, so it’s not as easy as just wiping out trolls and calling it done either — Their Empire is so well established that they couldn’t possibly wipe a significant enough number of them out to stop the spread of their warfare anyway. They could, but it wouldn’t be worth all the innocent lives that’d go along with it.
They’d be going against their own morals if they even tried it!
