she's watching the news, after work. gotham special - someone, a young man, a college kid, was tortured with russian roulette, only a few blocks from her apartment. the murderer recorded it all, and it plays in the corner of the screen as the newslady drones on.

jeannie looks at the footage. the kid is sweating, crying, frightened, the gun's barrel clicks. the man stares at him, narrow-eyed, a thousand feet tall. the gun's barrel jams. the man hits it. the kid's eyebrows slowly raise, not only disbelief, but impatience. are you really doing this?

the boy is shot. he falls back. the screen blurs.

jeannie lets out a short, loud:

"HA!"

she covers her mouth. her eyes widen - she didn't mean to do that. she didn't mean to laugh. a kid is dead (someone close to her age, really, someone maybe a few years younger than her) and she's sitting here, laughing at him. he has a family. his family is crying, and she's laughing. shame hits her like a battering ram.

her husband is staring at her. she doesn't know what his expression is. she touches her throat with her small, pale hands.

"i didn't....oh god, i didn't mean...."

Typically, Eddie busts himself out ! Hence why the cops have to keep DRAGGING HIM BACK THERE. Because Eddie’s aaa super genius, he can usually figure out a mistake in the security, and break out in those ways. Though, the issue is... sometimes it’s harder than others, and he has to figure out how to break out this time. Because usually when Eddie breaks out... Arkham takes note as to HOW and tries to prevent him from using the same method.

However, if someone promises to break him out like right then and there, then yea - he’s totally going to take up the opportunity. Because Eddie would do all he can to escape that hell.

𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 the moment their presences intermingle. sweat beading. gathering under the cowl. such things he’s glad remain unseen. the joker not one to have figured out his true identity. he likes to think bruce wayne is as fearless as batman. however, he’s sure that’s not the case. bruce is afraid of failure. he’s afraid of hurting those closest to him... (afraid of doing the wrong thing) among other things. the joker? his actions scare bruce, as well. however, he makes both he & the batman nervous. it’s like standing next to a ticking time bomb. you need fast reflexes. it’s a scare tactic. wants them to know he’s listening... though, he also wants to show that he’s offended.. he must really be obsessed. “what’s the matter joker?” he rasps. his head tilting. relaxing, somewhat - as he tries to adopt humour. “you miss me?” he looks down at the card. you ever see that movie? he’s just not that into you? chin rises. there’s a reflex he swallows to make a dig. to try & hurt the other. however, there’s no hurting the joker. it would only serve to dig him a deeper hole.

“what if i want companionship right now?” he wonders. good a time as any, right? “i’m here, aren’t i?” he begins. “what better time than the present?”
