for more details on the markings… thge arm band says 'INFANTRY FORCES' for the sub-set of the UODF they serve under, the badges on the collar say 'PRIVATE' for the ranking, and the chest patch says "PLATOON 4; SQUAD 8; NIEU-XAN ARMY" above the emblem of the Xan Collective (Since the soldier depicted is Khervi, the species in the Xan region of the GalFed) since galfed is like, big, they can afford to have protective layers on the top (_So it'd be like layers of kevlar & whatever material would be "anti-laser" or whatever), while the helmet is mainly made to deflect incoming shots and prevent lethal impacts, hence the visor protecting the eyes. they can also attach an extra piece to protect the lower half of the head more + gloves when they're ctually In Combat. regarding the lower legs they wear boots that go just below the knee, but i kept failing to draw this so it issnt depicted this is specifically their "light infantry" which would be more common in garrisons and military police rather than full on offensive operations
