Why does Halbie not trust cults. Like i get it but also why? Bad past experiences or just dont like the vibe?
Are you for real? Have you ever read about how half of them end up? Sure, there’s some genuine religious sects that get grossly mislabeled as Emp*re propaganda, but I’m willing to bet they’re pretty few and far between!
Half the time nobody even knows they exist until someone shows up half dead and super fucked up after escaping- or worse a bunch of people actually dead if the cult leader’s beliefs are extreme enough.
Delhon specifically has been a hell of a breeding ground for freaks, considering its historically unstable aristocracy! There was a BUNCH of ruins a few miles out from where I grew up, actually. Some of he more well established ancient cults actually had whole temples, so it really begs the question where does the line get drawn between them and more “valid” *cough* clown *cough* religions? I sure can’t answer that.

When I’m not at Sal’s I work in this little clinic in south Del, and, now I don’t want to be mean, I really don’t, but there’s this kid who always just... has the weirdest shit wrong with him...
One time he got dragged in by his friend with mirror glass stuck in his arms, and obviously once we’re sure he’s not gonna bleed out I ask what happened and you know what he says to me?
“I fell off my tub trying to fix my showerhead.” Then refused to elaborate. And that’s not even the weirdest thing he’s said to me. I can’t really say more because of the whole doctor-patient thing, but god. I hope he’s doing alright. He was nice.
