I like seeing how Lucy was illustrated in comics and advertising. During ‘The Lucy Show’ years, the Halco Company sold these Lucille Ball Halloween masks. Here’s the mask and how it was shown in the 1964 Halco costume catalog. #lucilleball #lucyball #holloweencostume #masks #halloweenmasks #vintagehalloweencostume #scarylucy #halco #illustrationartists #nationalcartoonistsday #yesterday #thelucyshow #advertising #lucyart https://www.instagram.com/p/B_259YiHiP3/?igshid=18nu5vzzou2xc

Ben Cooper, Inc. primarily manufactured Halloween costumes from the late 1930s to the late 1980s. It was one of the three largest Halloween costume manufacturers in the U.S. from the 1950s through the mid-1980s. The company's inexpensive plastic masks and vinyl smocks were an iconic American symbol of Halloween from the 1950s to the 1970s.
In the mid 1980s Ben Cooper, Inc. suffered great financial loss because of several deaths connected to the factory involving Tylenol laced with potassium cyanide. Parents were terrified to let their children celebrate Halloween because of the tampered drug causing Halloween company sales to plummet for the following years.
