{11:06 AM} “Darling, your eyes are beginning to cross.” Haldir murmured, large hand gently settling over the back of your neck. “Do you not suppose it is time for some rest?” He questions, thumb rubbing soft circles into your skin. Truly, your eyes had long since gone dry from staring so stubbornly down at the parchment before you, lost in the mindless translation of the scrolls. “It is still so early, Haldir. The sun has not yet reached its summit.” You reminded, leaning back into his touch. “Then there are yet many hours left in the day, beloved. Come, enjoy some rest. Your work will not stray in your absence.”

On a patrol together, Haldir confronts you about your feelings for him even though you’re promised to another.

For @childofyuggoth
The stars twinkle through the gnarled canopy. White. Bright. Bathing the forest floor with iridescent light. You close your eyes and inhale deeply, savoring the scents of the forest around you. Caras Galadhon dwells behind you, sleeping and silent in the peaceful dark.
You are attuned to every sound in the deep wood, and as you filter through it all, you find nothing out of place or suspicious. But the disturbance of the wood is not of your immediate concern. There are greater trials and closer bodies that seek your attention other than the animals that softly move through the underbrush.
Haldir of Lórien is a beacon in the dark. You sense him before you see him, standing just shy of your right shoulder.
“The night is quiet,” he whispers.
You open your eyes, turn to face him. “It is indeed.”
Haldir’s gaze casually drops to your lips and then back to your eyes. A gentle heat radiates up your body to encompass you in its embrace. You have little control over your body’s reaction to him.
The answering of your flesh when he is in your presence is unfair. It is a cruel joke. You are promised to another, but not one of your choosing. If you had a choice, you would pick Haldir.
Always.
But that is not to be. That is not the path set out before you.
Him standing here next to you, alone in the gentle dark, is agony. The heat of him is so near, so alive that it sends your senses tingling with anticipation. The clashing beat within you is a deafening drum.
Can Haldir hear the racing of your heart? Can he sense your need and your aching tremble?
You hope he can’t, but you also silently hope that he does. What would he do then?
Haldir’s gaze finally leaves you to glance out into the wood. “We should begin the patrol.”
“Of course,” you murmur, inclining your head, allowing Haldir to take the lead.
He returns his gaze to you briefly before taking a step forward to walk between two trees. You follow him at a short distance, watching the distance, keeping a constant pivot. The two of you walk in relative silence, moving like phantoms amongst the towering trees.
At a small clearing, Haldir pauses. You cozy up beside him, a question starting to form on your lips.
“Do you remember this place?” he asks softly, gaze fixated at the center of the clearing. A sharp beam of moonlight illuminates the ground. The flowers glow under its lunar light.
You do know this place. On one of your many patrols with Haldir, he confessed his love in this very clearing. He held your hands in his, kissed your knuckles and each of your fingers. He whispered in a longing of gentle song that soothed your nerves and calmed your soul. In that moment, you didn’t want anyone else, you only wished for him.
But how things change.
“It is etched upon my heart,” you answer truthfully.
Haldir’s silver hair shines like starlight. “I’d like to stay here. My memories of this place are happy ones.”
The two of you have come to this clearing on multiple occasions. It is no coincidence that Haldir’s patrol includes you. He selects you on purpose, and you go with him willingly because you desire the closeness. It will not last forever, not when you’re promised to another.
“We can only linger here for so long,” you remind him.
Haldir sighs heavily, and turns to face you. He has always been stoic. Calm. Even in your presence, even when he whispered gentle words of love to you, Haldir never appeared…desperate.
The look on his face now is anything but calm. It is intense—a billowing storm tightly contained.
“Stop looking at me like that,” you murmur, startled by the sudden change.
Haldir’s gaze goes to your lips, lingers, and then flicks up to your eyes. “Why do you deny yourself what you want?” he asks.
You swallow and tuck your clenched fist behind your back. Haldir’s directness is too much. He knows that this is not of your own choosing.
“You cannot ask this of me,” you answer, hating yourself for sounding so weak.
Haldir entirely shifts his body in your direction. Taking a step forward, he moves into your space. Your back bumps up against the tree next to you. Haldir places his hand against the trunk next to your head.
You are trapped, but by all the stars in the night sky, you do not care.
His scent is woodsy and clean. You lean in a bit, inhaling, attempting to remember his smell since this might be your last opportunity to do so.
“You stay loyal to him.” Haldir bends at the elbow, pressing in. “And yet you know that he lusts after another.” The center of his brow furrows slightly. “Why not be with someone who will always worship you?”
Him. Him, meaning, your betrothed. The one you’re supposed to be with in the end. The selection made for you. This is an expectation placed upon you.
And Haldir is right. He does not love you. While you intend to be loyal in your upcoming marriage, you also know his heart will yearn for another. But you also yearn for someone else, and Haldir is standing right here, questioning all of this, wanting to know why you won’t pick him.
“Sometimes duty comes before happiness,” you reply softly, gaze cast downward.
“Does it?” he counters quickly.
You keep your face turned toward the ground. Stare at your feet.
The two of you have lain in this clearing, limbs draped over and around each other. There has always been closeness between the two of you. There has always been touching, skin pressed to skin, lips brushing but never fully meeting. Yet, the two of you have never completed the act itself.
That is binding. That is forever.
But you see it in Haldir’s eyes now as you sneak a peek of him. That desperate hunger. The desire to be with one person for the end of your days. It is an arrow through the heart, piercing and sharp and stinging.
You wish to satiated it, to admit to what you want most in this world. Because it is him. It is Haldir that you crave more than anyone else.
“I would be breaking my oath,” you reply softly, finally having the courage to look at him directly.
“Would you?” he asks. “You have made no vow. You have created no bond. The choice is yours. Utterly.” He gestures at himself with his free hand. “And I am right here.”
With a shaking hand, you reach up to cradle his cheek. Haldir turns into your touch, sighing gently, and that snaps your resolve, dissolves it like the winter snows melting in the sun. Haldir must sense the change, because the two of you meet, lips finally joining in what they’ve been longing for.
He tastes perfect. Wonderful. A match made for the ages.
Haldir’s hand upon the tree departs, leaving the bark to encircle your waist, to draw your body against his. You do not resist. You surrender to him, opening like a flower, wanting nothing more than to forget all your fears and sorrows in this little clearing.
The night is long, but it is not forever. For now, the two of you can have this.
Haldir drags you even closer, pressing you firmly against him as he learns the contours of your lips. His hands discover the planes of your body, and yet it’s not enough for him. Haldir is charged like lightening across the sky.
The two of you have been denying these mutual feelings for far too long.
This is a tremor. Earth-shaking. A star bursting into dust.
Haldir guides you to the center of the clearing, easily removing his cloak with one hand. He breaks away a moment to lay it down on the dewy grass, reaching for you the moment it fans out to hold the two of you.
You sink down with him, buckles and straps, and armor disappearing as you go.
Your eyes fluttered open to the soft morning light warming your face through the window. Outside, the woods of Lothlorien were waking with the sunrise. You stretched, ready to shake off another night of restless sleep in an empty bed without him.
It had been months since Haldir had left at Lady Galadriel’s command, riding at the head of five hundred elven warriors to the defense of Rohan. Each passing day took you further from his memory and dimmed the possibility of reunion. A tender bruise was forming on your heart as, moment by moment, the reality of Haldir’s death pressed in on you.
Eager to rid yourself of the weighty grief that waited for you in the empty bed, you threw off the covers. The cool air chilled you, raising goose pimples on your arms and legs. You reached for the fur-lined robe that Haldir had gifted you on your wedding night - the nights in Lorien are cooler than those of Rivendell, he’d told you - and wrapped it around you. You let your mind briefly imagine it was his arms snaking around your waist, not the sash of the robe, but quickly extinguished the image when that aching bruise in your chest blossomed with pain.
You took a breath in, steeling yourself for another day. You didn’t let yourself hope for his return any longer; now, you hoped more for another day without news of his death.
“Come back to bed, my love. There’s a chill without you.”
You froze, every muscle in your body rigid and brittle as if you’d been turned to glass. The breath in your lungs evaporated, leaving your chest feeling treacherously close to caving in on itself. Not real, not real, not real.
When you felt a hand - warm, broad, and strong - grip your waist, your emotions broke out of their dam with a roar. Tears sprang to your eyes in an instant, your body racked with sobs as you buried your face in your hands. Real, real, real.
“Ssh, ssh my love.” Haldir sat up behind you as you pulled the hair off one side of your neck before encircling you with his arms. You whimpered when you felt the warmth of his chest and torso against your back, the soft breeze of his breath on your neck.
“Haldir.” Your voice cracked on his name as you gripped his arms, tightening his embrace around you as if he were the only thing keeping you from shattering.
“I must admit, this is not the joyful homecoming that kept me lying awake at night for the last seven months.” His tone was light and playful, and he pressed a few kisses to the soft skin where your neck met your shoulder.
Something shifted in that moment, and the second wave of repressed emotions leapt through the barriers you’d carefully constructed around them since the moment you’d said goodbye to him. Despite the tears swimming in your eyes, you laughed as you twisted to face him.
“Haldir,” you said again, cradling his handsome face in your arms. He looked just as you remembered him, although you didn’t miss the pale stripe of a new scar stretching from his cheek down across his jawline and onto his throat. Instinctively, you ran a thumb along the scar. Haldir closed his eyes, nuzzling into your hand and breathing in deeply.
“Is it really you?” It was the only question you were able to ask. The only one that mattered.
He opened his eyes, his gaze meeting yours where it burned with an intensity you hadn’t realized you’d forgotten. You melted beneath it, your skin tingling and your heart pirouetting in your chest. He didn’t need to say anything for you to hear his answer: yes, it is really me.
“It’s really me,” he replied simply, his hands traveling up your back and pulling you tightly against him as if trying to melt away the skin and muscle and bones that separated your two souls. Your hands danced over his face, his jaw, his lips, his hair. Reacquainting themselves with the angles, hollows, and grooves of the man whose image was imprinted on the inside of your heart.
The moment was close to yielding to the needs of two bodies alight with heat and love, but for another few breaths, you let yourself soften into the warmth of the reunion. His forehead connected with yours and you took a synchronized inhale. Around you, the sun bathed the forest in early morning light and the birds sang. The sunlight felt stronger and the birdsong sweeter, but you knew that was just because your heart was once again open to beautiful things now that it was healed.
“About damn time,” you whispered after a few moments. Haldir chuckled wickedly, the sound sending flames dancing up your spine and a molten coil of desire churning in your core as he guided you down onto the bed for a proper welcome home…

AN: I apologise for any mistakes and errors that you might find, I was only too excited to write for Haldir (yes, my first time with this ellon). But I think it turned out decent. Let me know your thoughts :)
"Imagine Haldir's reaction after you confess your feelings for him and he fails to say or do something before you think that he doesn't share your feelings and run off."
The birds chirped their spring songs in the golden trees high above you, filling your scenic afternoon walk with pleasant melodies. A great pity it was, your own anxiety preventing you from enjoying the nature around you, yet who could ever blame you for allowing your nerves to get the better of you when you had decided upon your waking this morn, that today was going to be the day at last when you would no longer hold your silence, and would bear your heart open to the one who had stolen it long ago.
“My lord Haldir,” your voice was a tad mousier than you would have wished, his effect on you seeming stronger today as if to spite your timid soul.
“Yes, my lady?” the Marchwarden gazed down towards you, his pale blue eyes finding yours in an instant, a soft questioning look making his otherwise well-guarded features look almost boyish.
“May we sit for a moment?” you tore your eyes away from him, lest unwanted color would rise to your cheeks and make you appear to be the foolish girl you had always thought yourself to be.
“Of course,” Haldir agreed softly and started you in the direction of the nearest bench.
Nearly hidden away entirely by the golden canopy of the trees that grew only in Lorien, you took your seats on the wooden bench, away from the rest of the world yet inevitably closer to the moment you had both dreaded and desperately longed for.
Your fingers became a fumbling tangle while your heart began a steady race inside your chest, trembling with every gentle breath you took in your silly hopes of calming yourself.
This was it, the moment was here. Wasn’t this what you had been dreaming of since the first day your feet had stumbled onto the precious soil of Lothlorien and your eyes had gazed upon the fair elf for the very first time?
Long had his pale eyes and golden hair haunted your dreams, more so your waking hours when deep longing had seemed to be your only companion.
His kind offer to accompany you on your daily walks had only fed your desire to unburden the feelings your heart had been nurturing in painful secret. Could you truly afford to deny yourself this moment when knowing the regret of doing so would eat you alive?
A soft yet slightly calloused hand grasped yours with a feather-like tenderness you could hardly believe possible of someone as refined a warrior as the Marchwarden.
“What troubles you, my lady?” his spoken words were not shy of honest concern.
You took a deep breath and forced yourself to look at the ellon you had come to love so dearly.
“While I’ve been enjoying our friendship and treasuring the moments of your company, there is something I feel that I should confess,” you started slowly, dragging the words from your mouth despite the growing fear in the pits of your stomach.
Haldir remained silent, waiting for you to go on in that silent patience you had come to admire.
You felt like your throat was closing up, dry and hoarse it seemed, unable or unwilling to voice your truth. You swallowed once and decided to put yourself out of this misery at once. No turning back now.
“I fear that for quite some time now, I have been…I’ve been thinking of you as in…,” try as hard as you could, the words would not come out. The expectant blue eyes staring directly at you weren’t helping either, only making you that much more flustered.
“What I want to say is that,” you trailed off, still unable to find the words, cursing yourself for not having a single ounce of confidence to help you through this increasingly awkward scene.
Fool, you silly fool of a girl. Just spit it out already before he thinks you a dimwit.
“I fancy you.”
Three words. Your confession rolled off your lips with about as much grace as a tumbling of rocks.
The relief you felt was short lived. Haldir’s expression hardened, his pale eyes glazing over as if he was trying to distance himself from this naked display of emotion. To your growing horror, the Marchwarden withdrew his hand from yours and cleared his throat the same way he always did when something was annoying him.
You felt cold, his treatment of your precious heart freezing you to your very core, making you instantly feel sick while tears threatened to come at any moment.
Had it all been in your head? Him taking your hand, kissing it softly before tucking your arm underneath his own? The secret spark in his eyes whenever he saw you? His own tempered smile when your lips said his name.
Did I dream it?
“Forgive me,” you mumbled while biting back your tears. You had done more than enough to make him uncomfortable, last thing you wanted was to force him to comfort you when you had, compelled by your own delusions, made an utter fool of yourself.
As quickly as your trembling legs would carry you, you fled the scene where your heart and soul had withered, and your dreams had fallen to their death.
Bitter tears pooled in your eyes while you tried to see straight enough to not trip over a fallen branch or a stray rock on your way back the same golden pathway you had taken earlier.
Your mind frantically cursing you for your stupidity of thinking someone as high ranked as the Marchwarden would ever waste a single thought of affection on someone lowly as yourself, you had failed to notice the footsteps behind you, wide strides getting closer and closer until finally firm fingers gripped your arm and jerked you around where you collided with something firm.
“What-,“ you had started but at the sight of the ellon who had so mercilessly crushed your dreams, your words died on your lips.
Haldir’s pale eyes sparked with something you hadn’t witnessed before. He looked fierce, his features as hard as ever but this time, a certain determination was written plain on an otherwise impenetrable façade. His hands steadied you before he, without uttering a single word, knelt down before you and took your cold hand in his warm one.
“I beg your forgiveness, my lady,” he averted his eyes and was focusing all his attention to your clasped hands.
“My lack of an appropriate response has hurt you deeply, and for that I will never forgive myself. I can only hope that you can find it in your noble heart, to look past my shortcomings and accept my earnest explanation and my sincere apology.”
“I am ashamed to admit that your confession, as longed for as it was, caught me off-guard. I had only dreamed of it in the sweetest of dreams, but never dared hope to hear it from your own lips.”
His words pinned you to the ground, unable to move or even breathe while wide eyes stared at the crown of his golden head, unblinking and barely seeing the shimmering light dancing in his silken hair.
“Your confession was all I had yearned for, ever since I found you wandering along our boarders. You took my heart that night, and I was willing to let you have it for I selfishly hoped that one day you might offer me a piece of yours.”
Haldir’s eyes found yours then. You couldn’t help but marvel and shudder at the same time at how vulnerable and naked he looked, his eyes all but begging you to accept his apology and gift him with your heart anew.
“My heart is yours, Haldir. It’s always been yours,” you whispered quietly lest you would startle him back to his usually guarded self. To your and most likely his own surprise his lips moved and Haldir offered you a genuine smile, warm and soft like the spring day around you.

By the fact that an elven woman can not keep her hands off you.

Haldir x Male Reader
——————————————————————————————————
It is the anniversary of the Festival of the Stars and because you have been living in Lothlórien for a while now. You will attend the festival, of course. Haldir, your husband, will not be free in the evening, as he is going on patrol, but he will be there for the end of the festival.
You put on your dark green trousers with your dark blue robe. Then you fix your hair shortly. Before leaving your chamber.
As you walk into the hall, you can hear the soft singing of the Elven singers and many delicacies shaped like stars are on tables at the sides. Every of the Elves is dressed in their best clothes, you can see that everyone here in Lothlórien is looking forward to the feast and wants to make it a beautiful memory.
You stand at one of the tables in the hall and have a glass to drink. As you watch the Elven entertainment, two Elven Women approach you.
"Y/n, are you alone here today?"
"We can keep you Company when none of your friends are around?"
They giggle.
"An Elven Knight like you shouldn't be alone on such a special night."
"I'll be fine on my own, don't worry, you should probably stop drinking."
"Oh, so what y/n we like to be close to you"
“We like to drink.”
"You're so beautiful and strong, you're definitely good at protecting anyone, hehe "
"Especially us "
"If we get attacked, I'll protect as many as I can, including you, but that's normal".
The two Elven women continue to harass you for a while, but it eventually becomes too exhausting, so you manage to find an excuse to get away from the two women.
You leave the large hall and go to a smaller one, where a group of elves are also celebrating the feast.
You watch them move gently to the songs and smile slightly.
You grab some sweet fruit and enjoy it, as you listen to the music of the elves. Then you look up into the sky and you see through the treetops that it is already quite dark.
I wonder if Haldir will be done with his patrol soon.
Then a few Elves appear and begin to talk to you.
All the conversation with the Elves that join you makes you tired, so you decide to return to your chamber.
But unfortunately you don't make it to your chamber. Because an Elven woman stops you in the corridor.
"Y/n, wait, where are you going?" She stands in front of me and won't let me pass.
"I would like to go to my chamber, if I may, please let me pass".
The Elven Woman makes no attempt to leave me alone, instead she places her hand on my shoulder.
Now annoyed, I try to push her away from me. But that doesn't seem to bother her, she lets her hands wander to my arms.
"You're pretty strong though, I can feel your muscles".
"I see, would you please let go of me"
"But why, we could have a little fun"
"Not interested" as I try to slip past her she pushes me against the wall. Surprised, I look at her.
"Y/n, don't be so stubborn. We can have lots of fun"
"I told you I'm not interested, now let go of me" she doesn't move a bit.
She lets her hands wander over my arms to my face.
"Your partner isn't here, he won't know about this, hmm, so come on, don't act like that, entertain me."
"Not interested!"
Just as she is about to touch my cheek, another hand comes from my left and holds it.
"He said he's not interested, so you should let him go." the hand pushes the elven woman's hand to her side.
I look up and see Haldir still in his full armor. He doesn't seem to have gotten time to take off his armor yet.
"Haldir," I whisper, looking up at him. His eyes glance towards me for a moment before he looks back to the woman.
"Oh, come on, he's going to have a lot of fun with me," she protests.
Haldir moves between me and her to block her from looking at me.
"He's having enough fun if you stay away from him, so leave him alone. He's with me."
He was clearly jealous. And I saw it. I know he hated feeling that way.
Because he trusted you, he would put his life in your hands without hesitation. You saw it in his eyes.
The Elven woman complains for a moment before her eyes fall on another elven man who is alone and she disappears.
Haldir follows her with his eyes. As she disappears from his sight, he turns to me.
"Are you all right? Why aren't you still at the feast?"
"I'm all right, thanks to you. There were a lot of people talking to me, it made me a little sleepy, I wanted to go to the chamber."
Haldir takes my hand and together we head to the chamber.
When you arrive in the room he lets go of you and takes off his armor to stand in front of you in his normal clothes again. Then he grabs you softly one more time.
You glanced quickly down at his hands, both of those wrapped tightly around your arms, right where hers had been.
"I don't like it at all that she thought you'd respond to something like that," Haldir says in frustration.
"I think she now understands that because of your actions."
"I hope so, pretty boy."
"That's something I've never seen you do before" you whispered softly.
You looked to his soft eyes and felt the anger begin to leave his body. "Well, she needs to learn to keep her hands to herself," he replied.
"I think you taught her that," you laughed, still in a low voice.
"What's mine is mine," he replies firmly, taking another step closer to you.
You giggled in response and whispered back, "I'm yours, my love, don't worry."
Then you took another step closer to him and slightly tucked your chin up, in a silent request for a kiss. To which Haldir gladly responds.
I guess it is! Hope you’ll like it, so please enjoy!
Actually, Haldir was my favourite LOTR character since I saw him on the screen. Times goes by and nothing changes, eheh^^
A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)
Haldir is not really affectionate, especially in front of others because he thinks that your relationship is your private business. Yet it's hard to tell that even with you he shows affection actively. He would pretend to be cold and indifferent for as long as he could but your soft kisses change things and warm the heart of inaccessible marchwarden.
B = Body (Their favourite body part of their partner, why? Do they like touch?)
Your ribs and belly. He loves seeing you squirm when he travels with his fingers up and down your sensitive skin. And how you cover your face with embarrassment when he kneels down and kisses your abdomen, leaving hot wet spots on your thin nightdress.
C = Courtship (What do they do to take your attention?)
As soon as he understood his feelings Haldir most likely would create a whole strategy to impress you. But life is not as strictly written so most of his planning didn't really work. You deciphered all of his hints at once but still played his play from simple curiosity. And don't hide that seeing such a serious elf being confused in his words wasn't the cutest scene you've ever seen.
D = Domestic (Are they the type to settle down with you? Are they willing to help with chores? What is your daily routine with them?)
Haldir has his beloved home for the protection of which he would give his life. He was so glad to see you moving into his. It really amused him how quickly you were able to settle by putting your important girls' trinkets all around or moving furniture according to your taste. "It's all because I feel loved here" you replied deciding where best to place a brand new vase of flowers that he brought this morning.
E = Espousal (Do they want to marry you eventually? Who proposes to who?)
He'll not hurry with this decision, but sooner or later he'll definitely marry you. Haldir would consider this step very thoroughly, because of his duty he is afraid to leave you a widow, yet at the same time as days goes by it becomes harder for him to imagine his life without you.
F = Fragile (How protective are they of you? If they are, how do they show this?)
He'd try his best not to teach you how to live your life, but it's difficult for him to reconcile with your desire to learn to wield a weapon or leave the borders of a safe Lorien. He'd never forbid you to do so, yet he'll sabotage all of your tryings by creating some stupid orders for you to be busy or just simply kissing you to the point when you lose your head.
G = Gifts (What type of gifts do they give their s/o? Do they like receiving gifts?)
Haldir knows pretty much about the usual proper gifts that other elves present to their loved ones, but it would turn out a catastrophe if your tastes will be different. Of course he will jump through hoops to make you happy but he barely ever thought that making a gift could be that hard.
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)
Definitely not a hugger. At least he wasn't before your relationship. Is not usually the one who starts (simply doesn't remember about it), but is very willing to reciprocate. During cuddles one hand usually gently presses your head to his chest, while with another he holds your shoulders. Haldir’s embraces are very light, mostly insensible, but still filled with tenderness.
I = Intimacy (How romantic are they? Do they have problems with intimacy?)
Surprisingly, Haldir is very intimate. He often whispers loving words to you in the early morning, when you are still half asleep. You never know the need for fresh flowers or small gifts, complete with letters of appreciation. Every day he finds a new way to say about his feelings, never actually saying it straight forward. Still everything stays behind the closed door of your chambers.
J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)
No one in Lorien would ever even think about flirting with the marchwarden's woman, so there is no real possibility for him to feel jealousy. Sometimes he feels irritated when his brothers are too gentle or too friendly with you, but he never admits it as jealousy, only as brothers' competition.
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)
Possessive and rough at some point. He spent most of his life in the army surrounded by soldiers, fighting with enemies, so tendersity and softness are a little foreign to him. Touches are not something Haldir is used to and unlike hugs, kisses reflect his true strong and strict, domineering nature.
L = Love language (What’s their love language?)
Actions. Because nothing he values as high as actions. Undoubtedly Haldir knows how to speak beautifully and convincingly, but he feels that when it comes to love every word he says sounds cold and even all of them never will be enough to express how much he loves you. Physical contact is not common among elves and his every touch says about his feelings much more than any words he could find in all languages.
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)
On those rare mornings which he spends at home, Haldir prefers to stay in bed for as long as possible, feeling your calm breath over his skin. You couldn't even imagine that Haldir could turn out such a sleepyhead. If you leave a bed earlier, he usually finds you in the kitchen, making breakfast, so he hugs you from behind, burying his face in the crook of your neck. And you could say for sure, that he's still half asleep.
N = Nicknames (What do they call you? What do you call them?)
It must be a really rare and important occasion for Haldir to call you by a nickname. When he feels the utter love he usually whispers to you that you are "My moon and my stars" and adds "And nothing could ever replace it". At such moments he shines with love and his words sound very tender.
O = Overture (How did everything start?)
“Don't you see I love you?!” You were arguing again about something that didn't really matter, when you suddenly confessed your feelings. You never ever saw Haldir in such confusion and joy at the same time. “It must be me, who should be saying it”. He replied, smiling softly and watching how your anger was replaced by embarrassment and happiness.
P = Pace (Are they fast-paced in a relationship? Or do they like to take things slow?)
Does not hurry AT ALL. He will rethink and ponder all his feelings, not to make a mistake. Also would be very careful with everything he does and says to you. Hasty conclusions and reckless actions have nothing to do with Haldir's vision of a relationship. He knows that there is an eternity before you and he wants it to be perfect.
Q = Queen/King (Who takes the initiative in relationships?)
As long as he is a big bass in Lorien behind the closed door of your bedroom you're the one who's taking the initiative. Not that Haldir doesn't want to, but you're always one step forward. Yet it doesn't bother him, because it means that at home he can finally relax and have fun following your whims.
R = Remembrance (What is their favourite moment in your relationship?)
It is irrational, but the moment he got quite embarrassed when you first made him a gift. Haldir used to refuse politely from all of the gifts presented to him by young elven-maidens but when you did this he just didn't know how to react. As much as he wanted to take it, that would mean to admit his feelings. Probably this was a moment when he decided to move forward.
S = Salvage (What issues does this relationship help him to cope with?)
Feeling of solitude and isolation. No one has ever doubted Haldir’s love and loyalty for Lorien. But he himself didn't realise that by taking dozens of patrols he was simply escaping this devastating feeling of loneliness. As well as being always surrounded by other elves at the city of Caras Galadon sometimes he felt devouring solitude as most of his congeners treated him like a captain not like a friend. And now having your loving embraces and light welcome back kisses hits completely different, replacing well known destructive feelings for new unknown but very sweet and warm.
T = Tiny (How are they around children?)
Earlier he didn't pay attention to topics like this. But now when not only his peers, but also those he trained are having children he suddenly felt like a solid part of his life is missing. Once he asked you casually whether you have ever thought about having a child. "Yes. If it will be yours'' you said, taking off his cloak.
U = Ulterior (What’s their secret?)
Sometimes on his travels he finds himself touching the feathers on his arrows, imagining that this is your soft hair flowing through his fingers.
V = Vulnerable (How long until they can be vulnerable around their s/o? What are they like in this state?)
At times you think that Haldir will never feel safe enough around you to be truly open and show you his weak sides. Life has taught him to always be on the alert and this habit is very hard to quit. There are times when he holds your hands and stays still for a while, lost somewhere in his mind. You never talk at these moments, but the trust between you is strong enough for you to understand and support one another without saying a word.
W = Wound (How do they feel about exposing their scars/injuries?)
He doesn't have a lot of visible scars exposed on his skin, all of the most hurting ones cover his soul, reminding him of all who he lost or couldn't save. Haldir tends to avoid talking about it, saying he'd rather concentrate on something more important and related to the present. But sometimes you find him restless in the middle of the night deep in his painful memories. You never dare to approach or interrupt him, and you still have to figure out how to heal his wounds.
X = Xtra (A random headcanon about your relationship)
He could do everything for you if you promise to give him a massage. Healing touch of your hands makes him disarmed and tender (and much softer than he would like to).
Y = Yearning (How well do they cope when their SO isn’t with them?)
Have these patrols always been so long? He is the discipline, so he copes well, very well, he would even say, yet his soldiers mentioned that every time they turn onto the road home marchwarden unconsciously quickens his pace. It is still very unusual to him that there is someone waiting for him at home, someone he misses really much.
Z = Zzz (How are nights spent with them?)
He is used to spending his nights on patrols, so he is a very light sleeper. At first it was really hard for him to share a bed with you, because every sound, every move made him wake up, stay still and listen. But now Haldir is the one who prefers to bask in bed until late in the morning.
Admiring the snow drop off the trees of Mirkwood, Legolas brought you closer to him by the hip. “Aren’t you cold?” You say chittering, as you wrap your green cloak closer to your body. “Elves don’t feel cold as much as humans do” he replied honestly, rubbing his arm up and down your side to suggest warmth. “I should of brought gloves” “Well then, how about you put those fingers to work?” Legolas suggested, looking down at you with a great smile. “Sure! Can I braid your hair?” You say, realising his normally braided locks are a straight untangled beauty. He nods, which activates you to carefully thread your cold redding fingers through the silky hair. “Let’s see if you have the skill of an eleven maiden” he retorts, he’ll have to steal someone’s gloves some time for his beautiful love.
FARAMIR:
Faramir’s eyes slowly opened as he felt his hair getting tampered with. Once his orbs finally adjusted, he seen his beautiful partner cascade their fingers through his locks, the soft candle light illuminating their beauty. “Well, good morning” Faramir grumbled, shutting his eyes again momentarily. “Hello love, don’t mind me, just playing with your pretty hair” you say, as your fingers hit a knot. “Ouch” he said with an exaggerated expression. “Ok well maybe it isn’t so beautiful, it hasn’t been brushed in weeks!” You say, threading the 3 sections of hair together. “I haven’t had the time, love” Faramir stated, feeling as though you were genuinely giving him a pointer. “Don’t worry sweet thing, now let’s make you a pretty steward, shall we?”
ARAGORN:
As Aragorn was sharping his blade, he felt soft skin connect with his gritty hair. “What are you doing?” He said, knowing exactly who those fingers belonged too. “Braiding” you say non-chalantly, as you reach a spot filled with all different types of knots and curls. “Well more like detangling, dear, when was the last time you washed these locks?” You state, peering over his shoulder at his dirty hands. “I do not remember” he replied, turning around to give you a smile. “Come on, let’s get you in the bath” you tut, patting the birds nest that he called hair. “I can bathe myself darling” “I don’t trust you, my messy Ranger”
BOROMIR:
“Don’t” Boromir dragged out, as he flicked your hand out his locks. “Shut up, and keep washing” you retort, seeing as the water he was currently lying in starting to get murky. “Also, I’m doing you a favour, adding these braids will make your hair nice and wavy in the morning, at least you’ll look presentable” you roll your eyes, as you add a piece of cloth at the end of the braid. “I don’t want to look like an elf” he rumbled, washing his arms lazily. “It’s just for the night dearest, and don’t be so rude, I’ll get Legolas in here to do it for me” you joke, as you see Boromir stiffen, he did not want that Elven Prince seeing his intimate parts. “Just be quick then” he protested, moving the so called sponge to his unkempt chest.
HALDIR:
“Dearest?” You say, looking around the beautiful chamber you and Haldir shared. “Yes?” He replied, closing his journal and turning to you. “You look like a hunter” you joke, taking in his messy hair and cloak, falling off his shoulder. “Sorry I’m not up to your standard princess” he replies with humour, standing up from the wooden chair and approaching you. “Well, let’s get you back up to shape” you huff, as you reach for the white comb off to your left. As you brush the pearly locks, you see Haldir sigh in contentment. “Feels nice” he whispers, wrapping his arms around you, the same time you add a braid to his hair. Around 5 minutes later, his hair is back to its original look. “All done!” You say, as you turn him back around to see your full work. “You forgot something” he rumbled, eying your own hair. “Oh, yes” you remember, pulling the blue clip out your locks, and adding it to the side of his handsome blond hair.
Aahanna: *at a wedding and had invited Lady Galadriel to it- is wearing this*
Haldir: *a bit bored waiting around for Aahanna to finish dressing*
Lady Galadriel: *is lowkey gossiping with Haldir. Then needs to use the washroom*
Haldir: *waits near top of the stairs that is near to the washroom for her*
Aahanna: *running up the stairs because she forgot something with a platter of flowers in her hand too and is phone the phone. Loses her footing on the last step* yes yes! Am going to get it! I’ll catch up you go!
Haldir: *notices and acts fast without thinking- catches her- wraps his hand around her waist and pulls her up to him*
Aahanna: *gasps and drops the platter of flowers and her hands are flat on his chest. Wides eyes looking at him and feeling his hand on her waist*
Haldir: *realizes how close they are and clears his throat awkwardly. Pulls her safety up*
Aahanna: *blushes and shocked that his hand was around her exposed waist and back* umm. . . thank you
Haldir: are you alright, princess?
Aahanna: *shivers when he takes his hand away* yeay. . . umm. . . *blushes a lot and pats her face with the back of her hand*
Haldir: Am sorry, I couldn’t grab you any other way.
Aahanna: It was only you, am ok with that *sees a flower on his shoulder and brushes it off and straightens his suit and his collar*
Haldir: *is still a bit shocked at her forwardness and as usual flustered* thanks Aahanna
Lady Galaldriel: You know, if I didn’t know any better, I would call you a married couple.
Aahanna: *jumps back and almost falls again but Haldir catches her. Embarrassed and buries her face in his chest*
Haldir: *is trying not to laugh and likes the feeling of her close to him*
Lady Galadriel: Alright you love birds, come along before I proclaim you husband and wife.
