With a scarf about her head à la Grace Kelly and designer Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses covering the better part of her face--hiding in plain sight, Jennifer, they're worth the hefty price tag--only the upturn of the corners of her mouth, the apples of her cheeks offer the warmth with which she delivers the words.
The car keys in her hand dangle loosely, and to make a point, she drops them into her purse; the door to her plain, functional white Prius goes untouched.
"I'd thought you both left," she says, and her voice strains just enough to betray her.
