Ficlet (<1000 words) week long challenge

@halfpastdead and I came up with 7 prompts for 7 days to get some creative juices flowing. I wanted to share in case anyone else wanted to join in.

Feel free to do the whole week, part of it, or even just one day. The only requirement is that it must be 1000 words or less. Write for the same character, different characters, same fandom, different fandoms, it’s not strict! Just write!

The challenge will run from April 17th-23rd, but if you find this post after the start date and still wanna do it, go for it!

Day 1: To Build a Home - details and/or scene in character’s own house (the decor speaks the loudest)

Day 2: One Fine Day - real, dream sequence, hallucination, whatever... the character(s) get a perfect moment

Day 3: Wish I Was Here - character fails to connect to the present moment

Day 4: Unlikely Allies - examine a connection between two characters who are (at least typically) opposed in some way

Day 5: (Not) Out of Character - if the character is usually a “goody” make them do something “bad” and vice versa if they’re a “baddie”

Day 6: The Art Says More About You - character’s favorite piece of music/literature/painting/etc. and how it relates to who they are

Day 7: I Guess it Comes From My Childhood - scene of a character when they’re a minor (or if already minor in canon, younger than “present” age)

3. ur least fav genre? why?

When romance is the primary genre. Of course I can adore romantic subplots, or even when it's a significant part of the story, but I can't recall picking up a book where the main point is the relationship. Even Intimacies is centered around law! Nothing I inherently dislike, I think it's just rarer to find a strong narrative where that's the central conflict.

4. a book which had a tv adaption that was better than the book itself?

Ack, I don't know if I know a TV adaption that is better. I think the Pachinko adaption is just as good as the book, but not better.

19. a book u came across randomly but ended up loving it?

I came across Hard Rain Falling while browsing in City Lights. It was under a staff recommendation otherwise I never would have considered it cause it looked like generic white guy stuff. It rocked my socks off it was so fucking good. Highly recommend!

25. a book that had u bawling ur eyes out?

I've never actually cried reading a book. I do remember The Red Tent making me a little misty when I finished though!
