Watching Hine struggling to make a boundary (getting there, slowly getting there, why aren't you here to see this, Yato?) would probably, under any other circumstances, have made him realise just how well he'd done to make one on his first try. Yet, as things are now, it only makes him worry that he's not teaching her well enough, that he cannot replace the care of a master who wants no involvement.

Well, he'd expected things to be like this (for him, Yato was irreplaceable; for Hine, it would surely be the same). Even so... ah, it continues to nag at him. She was trying so hard, as well...

He smiles--something he'd gotten better at over the past few months, together with those people he treasured so much. Now, he's beginning to master a different kind of smile. "You've been working hard, right...? D'you wanna... take a break?" He asks only half because he hurts. Being idle, after all, was just as difficult. (Some sensations crept up on him, whether he wanted them to or not.)

"Hiyori, if you were bothered by Yato harassing you, I confiscated his phone." Yes, he can still hear the wails. Who knew that was who Yato was bent over his phone for all day? Except that Hiyori was the only person to text.
