“Three Halifax Bank Robbers Sent to Prison,” Border CIties Star. October 22, 1931. Page 8. ----- HALIFAX, N.S., Oct. 22. - Five years in Dorchester Penitentiary on the charge of robbery, and three years for assault, to run concurrently, were the sentences imposed by County Court Judge W. J. O’Hearn this morning on Chipman Smith for his share in the looting of the Quinpool Road Royal Bank on August 27. Leory Dickson, junior clerk in the bank, was given three years in Dorchester on the robbery charge. Richard Morse, an associate of Smith and Dickson, drew one year in the city prison for robbery and one year for assault, the sentences to run concurrently.
