I have been doing photography as a hobby for about 6 months now. I wanted to start wedding photography but needed the practice. I messaged several local photographers about being a second tog alongside them at weddings. I had several polite declines, lots of ignored messages and one very positive reply. @adamwilkinsonphotography said he'd be happy to have me on board.
