I've always wished we got to see more of the 'best friend' aspect of Hanna & Ali's relationship bc all we've really seen is the 'worst enemy' aspect. In that flashback when Mona is creating an Ali doll out of Hanna, & Hanna tells Mona that the shirt was Ali's& she left it after a sleepover. Was it just the two of them? I like to believe it was. They gave each other makeovers, & watch romantic comedies & talked about Hanna's crush on Sean, & Ali was giving advice & being the actual "Best Friend"
Omg, yes, I love this. Imagine Ali bringing over Never Been Kissed for them to watch together and at first, Hanna got a little bit upset about it, but wouldn’t say anything. She thought Ali was trying to make fun of her and she got a little teary eyed when Ali grins and says she thinks the movie is right up Hanna’s alley.
But then they watch it together and Hanna falls in love with it. It’s cheesy, a bit silly and actually kinda heavy on the feels. Hanna relates to “Josie Grossie” and feels so empowered and inspired by the end. Watching the epic scene at the baseball field, she starts crying for like the third time during the movie. Ali chuckles lightly, so pleased with herself, and rubs her back, saying “I knew you’d love this movie.”
After the movie, Ali insists that she could be a journalist. She and Hanna dress up and act like big shots. Hanna is a big movie star being interviewed by the very beautiful and talented young journalist Alison. They play out this mock interview and create backstories for their characters for hours. During the game, Hanna realizes that Ali’s so quick and creative with it that she was probably suited to be a real actress, not just make believe.
Thinking on it more, she wondered if she already was.
