So personally I think this Halloween has been the best Halloween for me in my adult life. My late teens and adult years have been hard for me social wise. I only really have 4 friend total and we’re not really close anymore (no matter how much I don’t want to admit it) So holidays and just life in general can be emotionally hard for me. I haven’t been invited to any kind of party in years and have never gone out to diner or a bar or a club with friends. I just haven’t had any of those social experiences so I’m usually just in my apartment alone seeing other people online posting pictures or videos of them and their friends.
So even though I’ve always loved dressing up and decorating for Halloween it just got to a point of making me depressed. So this year I just said fuck it and bought pizza brownies and candy. I sat in pjs on my bed and watched Halloweentown High and Return to Halloweentown! It was the best time I’ve had in a while. (I mean even if I did have people to go out with on Halloween I would still be doing this since there’s a pandemic going on.) (Also I’m not complaining about this! Just venting cuz I know that I’m putting myself in this situation. I know if I go out by myself and find some class or group to attend to I could make friends and have those experiences. I’m just really shy and don’t know how to approach people so I just haven’t tried to go out of my comfort zone yet🤷♀️)
who: rachel berry & brody weston
what: brody takes rachel to a halloween party and drags her deeper into his world
“Nice wig,” Brody greeted, tugging lightly on the short hot pink bob Rachel sported to match her costume, Effy’s lips pursed as she climbed into the backseat, lighting a cigarette without asking if she was allowed. “It’s never going to stay on.”
“Yes,” Rachel retorted, adjusting it despite it staying perfectly in place, “it is.” A warning, as much as a promise; she couldn’t deny that she was nervous about how their night would unfold, but as he sped down a road she’d never traveled before, his fingers found hers across the center of his car, wrapping tightly around them briefly before Effy coughed from the back, her window down and long hair whipping around as she flicked her cigarette out of the speeding car.
Having the two of them in the same place always made her nervous, and they both knew it. Neither liked the other, both so sure that they were doing what was right for Rachel while her opinion - that they both did her good - went ignored. Rachel often wondered why they didn’t just get along, they were so similar, but they each thought the other was fake, a user, inevitably going to break her heart.
Rachel was perfectly capable of taking care of her own heart.
Effy disappeared into the party almost immediately, Rachel losing track of her other half while Brody’s hand on her back led her through the crowd. She was almost positive this wasn’t a Dartmouth crowd - or, at the very least, not exclusively, but she had no way of knowing. But Brody allowed her to relax, settle in, two wine coolers down and her wig a little bit looser from dancing around by the time he introduced her to a ‘friend’.
“I’m not sure,” Rachel whispered, but it was a simple question he asked her again - ‘Do you trust me?’ - and she knew that she did. There was no reason for it, in fact, every instinct in her body wanted to rebel against her brain. Logic was lost on her, though, and she nodded as he held his palm up to show her two tiny white pills, her eyes wide as she stared down at them.
“Come here,” he whispered, pulling her down onto a couch and forcing her to straddle his lap, her short costume riding higher on her thighs as he popped both pills into his mouth before pulling her in for a kiss. His tongue pressed against hers, and she could feel the pill pressed against her tongue before he demanded she swallow it, down without another objection, his hands on her hips the entire time.
“How long does it take to work?” she asked, but he didn’t answer her, dragging her to the dance floor where everyone was sweaty, glittery, past drunk and stoned and into something else entirely. But with his hands on her waist, pulling her back against his chest as they danced, she relaxed, waiting for the drugs to do their work for her.
She wasn’t sure when it hit, but she knew that it certainly had; everything vibrated a little bit louder, colors blending in and she couldn’t stop touching Brody’s skin, warm and flush against her costume, which suddenly felt too tight, too constricting. “More,” she moaned into his mouth when he kissed her, tongue as sweet as the wine coolers she’d been drinking, her body trying to ooze into his right there on the floor.
In the morning, she knew she’d be grateful he led her away, but she whined as he pulled her from the crowd, his skin too far from her own until they were in a bathroom somewhere, the door locked as he lifted her onto the sink. She shimmied out of her dress but left her stockings on, his nails ripping them as he gripped her thigh, settling between them with his mouth against her chest, her breath coming in short as she whined for him.
Everyone could have heard her, for all she cared, coming apart for him over and over again as his mouth found the crux of her thighs, encompassing her against the sink until her legs were practically jelly, wobbly as she tried to stand but he merely pushed her back down, sinking into her without preamble. Her scream seemed to penetrate them both, down into their bones as he pushed into her, again and again and again, Rachel murmuring his name, whispers and pleas against his skin until she was nothing more than pure ecstasy, limbs and skin nonexistent against him.
“C’mon,” he finally whispered when they were redressed, Rachel giggling to herself as he told her to get on his back, carrying her through the party once more to find themselves a breath of fresh air. She didn’t even care that she was leaving Effy behind, not with his throat underneath her teeth, her voice whispering that she still needed more in his ear while his nails dug deeper into her thighs as he tried to grab them a cab.
Rachel was merely so, so grateful he had gotten them a place to stay close by.
