Monster Ball 2021 Costumes; Adriana Callahan as Princess Jasmine
Welcome, ghastly ghouls and foolish mortals. Come one, come all, to the monster ball.
Since the first year of our settlement in the 1600s, our town has celebrated the holiest of our holidays with a grand gala. A night where the veil has thinned, allowing us all to be in one place at the same time without issue. A night where we dress in our finest costumes and celebrate the year that was and the year that is to come. Whether you choose to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve, Samhain, or Halloween, it’s always a night to remember.
This year’s theme is Victorian Gothic. An effortlessly beautiful aesthetic that any self respecting spooky citizen can appreciate. As usual, it will take place in the town hall, though with the help of some of the Unseelie Faeries in town, it will be glamoured to look like a gothic cathedral to further enhance the theme. As typical, the attire must be in costumes, to honor the ancient Celtic celebration of Samhain. Your costumes may be elegant, they may be more risqué, they may be goofy, or a pop culture reference. Whatever your preference is, it must be a costume. For our spectral residents, the Grand Witches Dorthea and Silvana have promised to enchant you for a night. You must go to them with your costume of choice so you can change your outfit. Be aware, however, the spell will wear off at the Witching Hour on November 1st (approximately 3AM)
Drinks and food will be provided, there will also be music and a rather large dance floor. You may come alone or come with a date. All residents ages twenty one and older are invited to be in attendance. We’re sure this celebration will be a joyous time for us all. Without a doubt, there will be no issues at all, or so we hope..
We look forward to your attendance.
Sincerely,
Mayor Piper-Cromwell.
The Halloweentown Monster Ball will be a dash event held from Friday, October 15th, until Friday October 29th. All pre-event threads should be put on hold until after the event is over. During the event, there will not be any Meme Mondays, TMI Tuesdays, or activity checks. If you would like to create and post costumes for your character, you may do so. Please be sure to tag them with #halloweentownhqevent so we can all see your creations! The event is designed to be an extravagant Halloween party, but, keep an eye out. There may be a twist or two coming your way… Further announcements will be made.
"It's a dead man's party, who could ask for more? Everybody's comin’, leave your body at the door..."
Full event announcement coming 10/7/21
Halloweentown-hq presents a mini event: Jack’s Patch 75th Annual Harvest Festival.
Attention citizens of Halloweentown! Starting Friday October 1st, the 75th annual Harvest Festival will begin! As of the last several decades, there will be activities for everyone young, old, and immortal. The festival itself lasts until the weekend of November 20th, and acts as a way to combine both of the United States holidays of Halloween and Thanksgiving. It’s shaping up to be an autumn to remember.
The activities will include: A large corn maze, pumpkin carving contests, scarecrow building contests, hard cider tastings, a petting zoo, face painting, pumpkin throwing contests, and costume contests. Venders from all over Halloweentown will showcase their art and their food, and there will be plenty of live musical acts. The contests themselves will only be held on the weekends.
As usual, Mayor Piper-Cromwell would like to remind citizens that this is not the only Halloween event and more will come.
This mini-event will span several weeks and is being put in place to give your muses interesting things to do, perhaps spark ideas for threads, and generally celebrate autumn itself. It’s not a full event, so there is no need to create special threads. This is purely a small plot device to help with creativity. Your character does not have to participate what-so-ever, this is just for fun.
Town Hall has come alive tonight in the glory of the Monster Ball. Glamoured to look like an old gothic cathedral, the Victorian theme is beyond breathtaking. Cobwebs hang from the ceiling, the marble dancefloor is tinted blood red. Aside from the large chandelier hung from the ceiling, most of the light is provided by the flickering candles everywhere. The dining tables are covered in antique candle sticks, tiny wooden coffins, and loads of spiderwebs. There are loads of spooky themed foods and drinks towards the back of the hall if you’re feeling peckish. The overall atmosphere is rather spooky, or romantic, if you’re moved by such an aesthetic. The party is off without a hitch, here’s to hoping it’s smooth sailing.
If you plan on dancing, stop by the DJs booth. Perhaps he’ll add your favorite song to his ghoulish playlist.
It was brought to my attention that I did not state the time the event would be starting. I think it would be fair to say that the event will start at 4PM EST so it allows our members in all timezones to be part of the first few hours of the shenanigans. So, just remember to hold off on your pre-event threads at that time and you may resume them once the event is all over!
