Israel Seeks Elon Musk’s Help in Resolving Hamas Hostage Crisis
Israel has sought the intervention of tech billionaire Elon Musk to aid in negotiations for the release of nearly 100 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. President Isaac Herzog reportedly reached out to Musk, urging him to leverage his close ties with Donald Trump to advance a potential deal.
The request is part of ongoing efforts to secure the hostages' release following Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023. Former US President Trump has taken a firm stance, demanding the unconditional release of the hostages and warning of severe consequences if Hamas fails to comply.
Musk, a significant donor to Trump, is viewed as a key figure who could influence the former president’s involvement in resolving the crisis. While it remains unclear whether Musk has committed to direct talks with Trump, his past role in mediating high-stakes political matters has raised hopes for progress.
In addition to his political connections, Musk’s SpaceX recently enabled Starlink satellite internet access in Gaza, sparking controversy over its implications in the conflict. As tensions persist, Israel remains hopeful that Musk's influence might help broker a resolution to the humanitarian crisis.
