PRESS RELEASE: iflixVICFALLSCARNIVAL lights up the town into 2018
VICTORIA FALLS - Combine an unbelievable setting, world-class music, non-stop adventure and a sprinkling of magic and you have the iflix Vic Falls Carnival. Now in its 6th year, the festival continues to grow with over 5000 music lovers descending on Vic Falls for an unforgettable adrenaline-fueled, uniquely African three-days of non-stop fun.
Kicking off the festivities on the 29th December, the carnival returned with the popular African Carnival Train to a sell-out night of beats under the stars in a secret location in the bush. Jamming on the train to DJ Francis, passing wildlife and with wind blowing in their hair the party-goers arrived at a remote party to the sounds of Half n Half, DJ Feel G, Reverb 7, Rax, Bhana and more for a party like no other under a canopy of stars.
On 30 December, the New Year’s celebrations went full speed ahead for the iflix Vic Falls CarnivalElectric Safari Concert as the line-up delivered the best in live house, African, indie and electro-pop. Festival headliner and Africa’s biggest artist, Black Coffee did not disappoint with his infectious mixing and skilled set that had the crowd hanging on to every beat. Despite his name, DJ InviZAble put on an out-of-this-world show rising up from the stage in a cloud of smoke, snapping his hands in time with his super sonic sounds. Mi Casa got everyone moving and grooving to their smooth African, soul while Zambezi Lager brought a vibe to the Sunset Cruise where eighty competition winners enjoyed a sun-downer cruise and caught sight of hippos and crocodiles on the river bank as a party started for the night to follow.
At the New Year’s Eve concert Zambezi Lager was flowing as the event’s official Lager partner and Coca-Cola kept the attendees well hydrated throughout. Ending off the celebrations and seeing in 2018 with a bang at the Unity Concert on 31 December, revelers said goodbye to 2017 and ushered in the New Year with their multi-coloured flags and painted faces in a bid to celebrate unity together. Keeping up the standard of epic music the line-up did not disappoint with stand out performances from the likes of Prince Kaybee who completely killed it with his high energy uplifting house, Ammara Brown who is the epitomy of dynamite coming in small packages with her booming voice and vibrant dancing, local act Flying Bantu which delighted the crowds with their Zimbabwean sound, Tresor dressed head to toe in African print bringing his fresh summer songs to the stage and many more.
Of course the highlight was the 12 o’clock countdown, as the crowd screamed in unison 5,4,3,2,1... The Kiffness were on stage whipping their hair, busting their sax, flanked by LED poi dancers and fire breathers, while tons of iflix balls were released into the elated crowd who just couldn’t get enough!
