can i ask why you seem to dislike hamilton? i dont know much about the show itself but i like the soundtrack, i like listening to musical soundtracks

oh god where to start….

1) glorification of slave owners 2) modernized with rap music to make racism more #relatable 3) fetishization of the bisexual main lead or whatever 4) yaoi fans taking a hold of these crusty old slave owning white guys and shipping them together 5) mediocre songs 6) did I mention they fucking owned slaves? and they glorify the shit out of these dead white guys through rapping and being LGBT or something to make it okay

(Sorry if ur tired of hamilton) And in the documentary, they talk abt like. Washington owned slaves. But they r like "ah it was a #character flaw!! We're all human guys!! I cant forgive him but i can portray him in a glorifying light and not ever mention his slaves" and they act like "yeah lol they suck. We r not glorifying them" like this whole musical is abt how "america wouldnt be america without these dudes look at us rapping about american history". Like. U r glorifying them be quiet.

I actually dated a huge Hamilton fan (they were white lmao) like they liked it so much that me even giving the slightest criticism would set them off. It was so fucking annoying. And they would constantly bicker at me and asked why I didn’t like it and it trapped me between me actually answering honesty and risking breaking up or complying and pretending to be okay with this racist play

ive been told that the fact that they do mention they had slaves but like, offhandedly like "nbd this is sally hemmings and were gonna dance" and "i own slaves and am rich lmao" is worse than not mentioning it at all? Yeah exactly! It was no big deal like!! Y'all owned other human beings!!!! This play is about these nasty dudes who treated it like no problem while “being valiant heroes who save America”
