A soulful rendition in Hamsadhwani by the inimitable Ustad Amir Khan
And at every turn of the wheel I remember you. The spinning wheel of love, the unspun balls of grief The more I spin them, the more they seem to double.
I swear Hamsadhwani has been a key Raag in my life. Lol does that even make sense? What I mean is, I find that all my favourite pieces i liked listening to as a child and that bring about the most emotion in me are in Hamsadhwani. The first Odissi pallavi I learned is Hamsadhwani Pallavi. Travelling home from another island I listened to Hamsadhwani while on the boat and I was almost brought to tears by just by how beautifully the music and setting came together. A Bharatanatyam item praising Shiva that I loved watching is in Hamsadhwani I’ve come to realize. I often listen to a Bhajan in Hamsadhwani when I wake up at 4:30 to go to the gym. It has just made these... almost imperceptible impressions on my life without me even realizing.
I even consider getting a tattoo to commemorate it.
Recently fell in love with this bhajan. Give it a listen~
