Had a really sad dream about hamsters last night.
There were these two hamsters like out in the wild in their little burrows. But they had cute little hamster clothes and hamster-size furniture. And both hamsters were really sweet and nice together.
But then there was this blizzard and their little burrow had a cave-in. Both hamsters made it out okay but they had to find a new home, fast. For some reason they needed to cross this dangerous icy river, while it was still being a blizzard, and while they were crossing a piece of ice broke off, separating the two hamsters as one floated down the river.
My dream followed the one floating down the river and it somehow survived. Then there were a bunch of wacky adventures I don’t actually remember but it involved a snake and a hairdryer for some reason.
Anyway river hamster ended up going on quests and stuff, trying to stop this legendary bad guy on a quest to revive the dead. The villain and river hero hamster never actually meet but are constantly thwarting each other’s plans. Then the villain revealed themself and it was the river hamster’s old lover? friend? idk.
Basically the other hamster thought river hamster was dead and went on a quest to revive the dead, slowly losing their empathy for others as they remained focused on their goal.
My question is why did my dream give me a lovers to enemies trope?
