An idiot because he chose the Tyrells over his own family, I love him, I really do, but that was a mistake.
a family that never loved him, and left him to be raised by maesters and strangers all alone? while the Tyrells welcomed him with open arms and showed him love and affection? Loras was the only REAL family Renly ever had. So no, I can't see how that was a mistake.
Not to mention the Tyrells have that gigantic fucking army and all the food in Westeros while Stannis has....... a smuggler and a crazy woman.
Total mistake, yep.
Renly made lots of mistakes, but siding with the Tyrells was not one of them.
