Hand Strokes
Something I've come to realize is that I subconsciously tend to play all downstrokes unless it's a solo/individual notes. It's so much faster when you alternate. I think the concept of hand strokes was lost on me early on. Some songs call for downstrokes, but you have to really listen to the music to distinguish which is being played. I've been making the conscious effort to use each type when it's called for. I'll be going to South Padre this weekend, and I had the brilliant idea of bringing along my acoustic. Technically it's my sisters, but it hasn't been played in years and strings are missing. I may pop into the local guitar shop if I have time and get it restrung before we leave.
