🌮✨ Day 10: Pixel + Taco Fixings!

Tacos! A delicious digital treat! I used an interpretation of pixel and experimented with screentones and halftones. Maybe it doesn’t count as “pixel”, but I had fun! (And I almost didn’t do anything for today!)

I created the cover artwork for the universally-loved Aristotle & Dante novels by Benjamin Alire Saenz many years ago - and the subsequent A&D novels more recently - but such universal fondness comes with problems! I adore the fan art, of course I do, but my artwork has been 'borrowed', copied and mis-used hundreds of times over and sold as poor quality products.

It was time to create a *proper quality art print* from the original work created for the covers - some details from which have never been seen before, and here it is!

For the last four years, I’ve been keeping a pretty basic bullet journal. It has been more of an outlet to create hand lettering than to actually bullet journal, but I’ve had so much fun with it! Every month, I try to make time to do a full hand-lettered spread for that month. Sometimes they're simple and sometimes they're more complex. Sometimes I don't ever finish and other times I don't even start! It's been a super fun and low-pressure way to keep drawing even when I get busy. I also love to keep track of what's going on in my life. When I was pregnant I added a section each week to talk about how I felt or how the baby was doing. Now that Griffy is here, I make a point to add a few fun new things he's doing or saying each week. I love looking back at where I was at that moment, even if it's just remembering how I felt or where I was when I drew the lettering for that month. I can't believe I've really been doing this for four years now! I'll try to take some photographs of my weekly pages to share. Being a 4w5 enneagram artist in my experience means having a creative and emotionally deep perspective. I love expressing my thoughts and emotions through my stories and creating something that truly reflects who I am and how I see the world. However, it can also be challenging. Sometimes I feel insecure about my own talent and I find it difficult to find my place in the artistic world. I have a strong desire to be authentic and original, which can sometimes clash with market expectations and current art trends. But despite these challenges, I continue with my art and work hard to improve and grow as an artist. I love exploring new mediums and techniques and am always looking for ways to make my art more authentic and representative of my world view.
