Repost from @alfrededmondjr using @RepostRegramApp - You would think everyone knows this by now, but it apparently, it bears repeating: ______________________________________ YOU DO NOT OWN YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE OR ACCOUNT. THAT REAL ESTATE IS NOT YOURS. ______________________________________ Facebook and all social media platforms are "plantations", in other words, land that we don't own. We users are sharecroppers or tenant farmers, allowed to live and “farm” (share content) on Mark Zuckerberg's (and his shareholders’) property (including Instagram, which FB owns), providing an audience (also us users) to monetize via advertising and other means. It's their land, so they can block us from planting our “crops" and/or uproot/bury crops we’ve already planted anytime they want to, whether we think it's fair or not. ______________________________________ I've understood that from Day One (I'm a social media OG, as my daughter @cake211 says), so I have learned to reserve my "money crops" (my best, most important content) for the land I own and control (my personal website, blog, books, podcasts, e-newsletters, mailing list, etc.) The purpose of my seeding content on Facebook and other social media plantations is to entice those who like my content to visit the properties I own to get what I have to offer directly from the source. ______________________________________ As social media users, we are not owners, or even customers really (unless we buy paid social media ads); we are the product: the audience (just like TV viewers, radio listeners or magazine readers). ______________________________________ I never forget that. Neither should you. #thesesocialmediasaintloyal #handlethetruth #socialmedia #MarkZuckerbergaintyourfriend #facebook #freeisNEVERfree #thesuccesspert #wednesdaywisdom #wisdomwednesday https://www.instagram.com/p/BrkyixJgY7A/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=18245te1mv5p3
