A Brief History & First Attempt at Writing a Blog
Hi,
I'm Magda, owner of AnyaSophiaCo, Vintage & Contemporary Jewellery.
I enjoy writing so I thought I'd try writing a blog. I'm in a bit of a quandary about what to write about though...does anyone really want to hear about me?! In my opinion, that's not very interesting but I suppose a bit of background into who I am might be a start.
After graduating from University with a History of Art degree, I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career. I fell into a job in a glamorous high-end jewellers in Cheltenham which I loved for some time. I was sent to Antwerp on a diamond grading course and completed the National Association of Jewellers Professional Jewellers' Diploma. I then took a job in Estate Agency during a very buoyant property market which I also enjoyed but only for a short amount of time. Since then, I have got married and had two children. However, realising that my part-time office job wasn't quite fulfilling my own personal aspirations, I set up an Etsy shop called AnyaSophiaCo which is named after my beautiful 6 year old daughter. I began to source vintage brooches and buckles and made unique bohemian leather cuffs and chokers which I still stock and which have been very popular.

As I have a love of antique and vintage items, I then began to stock older pieces of jewellery. These pieces can transport you to another time and place, and you become the owner of a piece of history. So many questions can be asked about the item - who made it? when was it made? who was it made for?

More recently, I have also included silver collectables to the shop inventory as I believe these are really special pieces of history which can be collected, admired and enjoyed but not necessarily used. I find the hallmarks fascinating and really love being able to date and attribute the items.

Until next time! Thanks for reading.
