Yesss I agree it’s one of my favorite games just because of how good the character interactions and subversion of expectations are

oh YEAH another thing i really liked was like... the morality of it all? it does a complete 180... but slowly. Papa nier starts off as seemingly a really caring father willing to do anything for his daughter... to like, a really worrying case about rage and obsession. The more of yonahs journal entries i saw and the more little bits of info given about how papa niers mind works. It paints a slightly different story. No doubt that nier loves yonah but like you can see that he didnt spend as much time with her as he shouldve even before knowing about the sealed verses. Almost avoiding her, or rather the reality of her terminal disease, altogether because he cant fix it?? And how willing he is to just... kill shit, all the time, without even thinking. Cause super pent up anger. Or how you can see his thought process in justifying his (and the whole parties) actions. Like after emil nukes the aerie. “But you saved our lives so its fine :)” or “its all for Yonah so were doing the right thing” like uuuuHHHH MDUDE??
