In studio 5 during this past two weeks as I was forming other ideas in the recess of my mind I worked over this conceptual piece which gave me the space to think about other ideas to move forward with.
The piece below is not finished but it mean the finishing of the Mayfly and nature as a result of our over reliance on plastic. The choices we make with it and how we discard it after our often single use of it leaves a longer lasting more devoting impact on all the natural beauty that surrounds us.
I had made plastic bags into weaving cords and used this by weaving it into hessian, the hessian represents the mayflies wings , the woven plastic , including single use forks for eating and a piece I attempted but failed first time at making was a circular look knitting from the joined plastic weaving cords I made. I see the plastic as how it gets woven into society and nature into our very own fabric.
