Not really an ask but more like a thanks and a props. You're extremely thorough with your explanations and having been following this for a good couple months it's been a great inspiration for projects. Seeing how much effort you put into this has been great motivator for my own work and I wonna say thank you for the presentation and effort you've put into showcasing your work here. As an aspiring dev it's a prime example to look over and be inspired by!
Oh my gosh, you are too kind! I have to say, I think I mangle my explanations more often than not because whenever I post it’s usually like 1am+ when I am sleep deprived and somewhat incoherent, and also because it’s hard to disentangle what I know about my game from what everyone else does. Nevertheless, I appreciate the very very kind feedback, and more than that, I’m really happy that I’ve been able to inspire you on your own projects!!
Because my (very limited) previous gamedev experience has been on projects which were not my own, I was unable to really share stuff unless I got everyone’s approval, which meant I didn’t really get to show off anything. I decided when I started this project that I really wanted to show everyone the way that I work, and how slow and steady progress can build up into a full game. I am honestly surprised and thrilled that so many people, including yourself, have joined me on this journey, and knowing that also really fires me up to work on my game and show you guys what’s been done!
Thanks again for the super kind words! I can go to bed now feeling all warm and fuzzy!
((So maybe it’s not a micro story. Fight me.))Footsteps echoed across a spacious, near empty lab, its lone occupant pacing slowly throughout the complex. Much of the equipment was turned on, with gemstones floating, glowing, and that ambient hum so often associated with asuran tech nearly drowning out the pacing asura. She had been accompanied and monitored greatly throughout her first tour of the facility she was to be using. It was not an inquest complex, and Kiza was not here on inquest business. Her reputation, however, was known to those in current control of the lab.It took much convincing for some space, she needed it to work properly, and with time, she got it, left to her own devices, and a plethora of notes regarding a rather specific Orrian artifact, and more notably, the beast it released. The alchemist’s ears twitched, hanging low as she examined one such console full of whatever details were available. It had been her fourth time checking it in the past thirty-minutes.Claws tapped gently against the holographic panel as she switched functions, this time to observation. The entire lab came up on screen. Each corridor, room, closet, in its own individual segment. Each one was empty. The others truly had cleared out. A heavy breath left Kiza’s lips, and her stiff posture lowered, slumped, hand drifting from the console.Alone, finally she was completely, assuredly alone. It bore little solace to the asura, save for the privacy provided by such. Perhaps being alone was not the best of ideas, as now it simply re-opened fresh wounds, reminding her of those she had lost. Tomorrow was Lhenn’s birthday. It came as a sharp reminder once every year, and cut all the deeper with her far more recent loss. Volli was nowhere to be found. She had been informed by others that the agent, her daughter, had been consumed by the very shadow beast she now studied. Absorbed into the dark, shapeless entity. Was there a potential of her survival? Yes. Though the odds did not favor her. When did they ever? One child dead from years back, another might soon, or already has, joined them. That left her with potentially one. One who was, at this moment, potentially throwing their life away in a drunken stupor. A deep, shuddering sigh escaped the alchemist’s lips as the thoughts forcibly buried themselves into her mind, burrowing and cutting without mercy. Her prosthetic lowered, gripping the side of a console as her knees buckled slightly, propping herself up as her other, organic hand clamped to her mouth, body giving a weak shudder. Where did she go wrong? Did she go wrong at all? Or was this some sort of karmic retribution? Fate? Terrible luck? There was no answer. She did not expect one.
The doors to the lab clicked shut. A sob escaped, heard by no one. None were allowed to see her like this. None were to see the worries, the pain, what she classified as weakness. Most others would see it as certainly justified, in this situation, yet to her it was a further stain, shame. Her body lowered, supported up only by the tight grip her prosthetic kept on the nearby equipment. Eyes clenched shut, ears pulled back. Was there hope for this situation? Could this, could anything be salvaged? She was just barely beginning to regain contact with a child of hers, and they are forcibly taken from her. Why could she never seem to ahve the one thing she valued most? Not power, not fame, not academic recognition. She simply wanted her family. Time and time again, it was taken from her.
Alone. It felt cold. She would pull herself back together in time. Resume her work, and none others would be the wiser to her moment. She would continue to be stubborn, blunt, commanding, as expected. But for now she remained alone, both a blessing and a curse. This was going to be a long night, for better or for worse.
((Yeah there was actually a 01. I think I wrote it like, uh...when I first made this blog? Gosh I’m terrible at continuing things. This journal entry might as well be a new 01 but EH))
53, Colossus, 1329 AE
Much has happened since I last added an entry to this thought log. Tempted as I am to retroactively fill in for such occurrences, I’m quite sure such goes against the very idea of a journal in the first place. I am to vent out my current thoughts, and by the whorls of the eternal alchemy, do I have them in plentiful supply.
Such should be a given, of course, but these are not simply the thoughts of future projects, experiments, or subject acquisition (Though admittedly they do still take up a portion of my thoughts. They always do.), rather of current events. Some positive, others, troublesome to say the very least. Even the positive occurrences have origins in less than pleasant circumstance, though I suppose one could say that is a common theme of my work.
Now, where to start? The good or the bad? Perhaps both. I’ve been promoted by the division lead to a supervisory position. Such is something I have worked towards for some time, and it is certainly beneficial to see my skills acknowledged. However, this position only opened up due to the loss of the past supervisor, and not through something standard and mundane such as a lab accident leaving them inoperable or dead. No. Far worse. He was a traitor. An agent of the order of whispers infiltrating our division, and earning the trust of those within it. We are still in the process of assessing any damages, and the extent of how much information may have been stolen or compromised.
Actions like this are what disgust me. Leave me upset and appalled to no end. How is it that these deceivers, these traitors to their race get lauded as heroes? All this order does is steal our information, -our- hard work for their own benefit! We develop the technology, we do what needs to be done, despite the unappealing process, and they simply steal and reap the rewards! We’re treated like criminals for doing what we do, despite if we hadn’t, they would have nothing to take. Tyria’s technology would be decades behind what it is now, and likely, all would have perished long ago. Yet -we’re- the villains. Disgusting. I eagerly await the day I can expose such blatant hypocrisy.
The agent’s sudden betrayal and departure left one operative, quite damaged. She was his partner, and with no warning, he was gone, with me only coming across later to try and put together the pieces. It has been met with mixed results, and I believe that the operative left behind, Zixa, has a long ways to go before she fully recovers. If such is possible in the first place. An agent broke the trust and heart of someone who felt close to them. They, and more specifically, the order they reside in, are considered a great boon to Tyria. What madness has the world come to? They simply take. They take our research, take our projects and credit, and for some time, they took one of my progeny and destroyed her trust in myself. Such is only now beginning to mend, and even then, she’s held deep within their snares.
Bah, regardless, I believe that is enough venting on such, undesirable topics. There are still more thoughts in my mind to release, and I believe now would be appropriate for something more positive. One greatly notable thing in that regard would be the fact that, some time ago, after the previous events, Zixa and myself entered a professional agreement binding by contract. We are to spend at least one night weekly simply attending to one another’s needs. It was brought up by Zixa as a way to allow the venting of stress in current times, allowing for higher morale, and thus, a higher work efficiency. Such has certainly been noted, and it is pleasant that from the beginning, it was laid out that any interactions are to be for the benefit of work, and not interfere in any way. This is a purely professional agreement, with no emotional ties intended. Simply, to mutually benefit and allow for better productivity. Regardless, it is very appreciated, and a much needed method of release. I don’t see the stress lessening anytime soon.
These days are both trying and exciting. Opposition grows, and so too does opportunity, with more dragons growing active, and ley energy through the roof. Research potential is higher than it ever has been before. Things have been..difficult the past few years, with our meta-krewe suffering many losses, but, perhaps this could be the break we are looking for. Only time will tell.
You've fallen right into my trip. Gimme...1 5 7 11 14 20 21 23 27 30 33 34 37 38 42 47 49 for Kiza and, Myuu!
Hooo boy, fallen in I have, and a doozy of questions I have received, Prepare for an equal amount in answers!
1:What does their bedroom look like?
Kiza: Neat and organized. There is very little in decor, and it is supplied with a bed, closer with her inquest uniforms hanging up within, a dresser with more casual clothes, and a desk, which contains various notes, a datapad, and a small projector which cycles through images of her progeny. It appears quite well maintained.
Myuu: Her bedroom on the other hand, is, well..it’s a mess. Were it not for her contraptions cleaning it up while she is absent, it would likely be deemed a hazard zone, by now. She does little for the sake of organization, often tossing things where they may, bringing drinks into the room and subsequently spilling them, and various articles of equipment, clothing, you name it, littering the floor. Even with the attempts of her creations, there’s only so much that can be done to maintain that perpetual disaster.
5:Cleanliness habits (personal, workspace, etc.)
Kiza: As with her room, everything Kiza works with, personal or work related is organized with painstaking accuracy. Not an object is misplaced, and each item is deliberately located where she is. She maintains clean quarters, and a clean self, showering daily. If anything is disorderly, or unclean, do not expect it to remain such by the end of the day.
Myuu: Well, her belongings are rarely maintained, as stated before, and she rarely actually works in her life. Her work and living spaces are poorly taken care of, and often messes, but thankfully, she at least keeps up on personal hygiene.
7:Favorite way to waste time and feelings surrounding wasting time
Kiza: Generally doesn’t really waste time. A large majority of hers is spent working, which she considers hardly a waste. Though a more significant part of her days are now spent in the presence of Zixa as well. Though due to the other’s intellect, ideals, and knowledge shared, she hardly deems that wasting time as well. I suppose the closest to that she gets is just, brewing elixirs that have little practical use, which she doesn’t mind. However, when it comes to -others- wasting time, oh she is very, very judgemental of that, and will often look down on those who waste time purely for the sake of wasting time.
Myuu: On the other hand..well..almost everything she does is a waste of time! Work? What’s that? She greatly values her freedom to do what she wants, when she wants, and enjoys anything from going out to celebrations, to sightseeing, to thrill seeking. Kiza’d hate her, almost certainly. Actually she does. She once threatened her at gunpoint. Good times.
11:Intellectual pursuits?
Kiza: Simple, really. Anything that benefits the inquest, she will strive for! Of course, that primarily focuses around the realm of alchemy, chemistry, and other useful tools for elixir making, though a couple years ago, as a side project, she actually worked on a far different project, that being basically a suit of power armor that was powered by shards of crystallized mists essence. It’s rarely used, and rarely mentioned, though still remained well maintained, even if tucked away.
Myuu: Very few. Though she does have a decent amount of study in medicine. Such is rarely something she pursues, however, and often actively tries to avoid. If anything was to be considered a waste of time to her, it would be such. She values its usefulness for other people, but considers it just that, someone else’s job. She’d rather enjoy herself.
14:Physical abnormalities? (Both visible and not, including injuries/disabilities, long-term illnesses, food-intolerances, etc.)
Kiza: Has two very large abnormalities, though one is usually concealed. The first, openly visible one would be her prosthetic left arm, beginning a few inches above where the elbow would normally be. It is complex, to say the least, and something of an object of pride for the inquest agent, as it is a work of those in the organization, and by her reckoning, absolute top of the line. If anything, she enjoys brandishing it at people, and boasting about the inquest’s capabilities in crafting such a piece of tech. Similarly, her second abnormality is…also a prosthetic! Though often unseen, it is not an intentional act by her, rather it is a prosthetic foot, and often simply covered simply due to the garments she wears. She makes little effort to hide it otherwise.
Myuu: She has no immediately visible abnormalities, though one may notice she often has an arm shaking. It’s something she often dismisses when questioned, and is quick to change the topic on. Now, less visible, and far more consequential, is an illness she has. It’s a neurodegenerative condition which, in a few years, will be terminal. She’s fully aware of such, and again, often won’t mention it, and dismisses those who try and bring concern regarding such.
20:Childhood illnesses? Any interesting stories behind them?
Kiza: None particularly. She’s always been a fairly healthy asura, aside from the usual occasional cold, flu bug, what have you. Nothing notable!
Myuu: Well, there’s that whole terminal thing as was mentioned in the last answer, but, aside from that? Nothing.
21:Turn-ons? Turn-offs?
Kiza: She absolutely loves it when her partner toys with her ears. Be it dragging a finger along, twirling the tip along a claw, gentle nibbles, or whispering into it. Any of those, in the right context, can get her -quite- excited. Alongside that, she greatly enjoys competition in such encounters. Teasing, vying for the dominate role, etcetera are all things she does often, and really enjoys. However, if her partner is one that clearly outclasses her, and displays such in the bedroom, that will quickly turn her away. She liked competition, not being bested within moments. That, alongside with just simply, pure desire, are things she dislikes. Intimate moments for her are rarely just a bond of the body, they’re of the mind as well, and as such, she wants to feel like there is a connection and care shared, not just sating base wants.
Myuu: Really, she’s not that picky. So long as people display a willingness and enthusiasm to match her own, she’s golden. No particular likes or dislikes here, she often just caters to what the partner wishes for.
23:How organized are they? How does this organization/disorganization manifest in their everyday life?
Kiza: Very organized. Painstakingly so. Every bit of her schedule, her living quarters, and workspace are carefully thought out for optimization. Though she can adapt to sudden adjustments, and at times is even quite willing, Kiza generally prefers everything to work according to plan, with little deviation. She can get very upset if people try to break from her pre-established plan or formula, especially if proper reasoning is not given.
Myuu: Is basically a scatterbrain. Her living and work quarters could be described as chaotic at best, and in person she’s often one to hop from one topic to the next, with little to no plans for herself, long or short term. Simply, whatever comes to mind right now is how she operates. Moment to moment and hey, she seems quite happy doing just that, despite the frustration it can cause others.
27:What is their biggest regret?
Kiza: This is a tricky one..there’s a lot of things she regrets. A huge contender could be her relationship with her former spouse, as things ended...less than pleasantly between the two. As in there may have been attempted murder. Good times. However, she also greatly values the progeny she gained from such, even if she vehemently hates the source, so it’s hard to call him her biggest regret. Or at least not, him as a whole. Instead, her largest regret would likely be trusting him, and allowing to get close enough to harm her and those she held close. Another close regret would be her initial relationship with Volli, and keeping what the inquest did secret to her. Once Volli was out of the bubble Kiza kept her in growing up, and she was exposed to alternative views and evidence of what Inquest really got up to, it backfired -hard- on Kiza, resulting in years of damage and a cutting off of contact for some time. They’re only just now working on repairing it.
Myuu: Not spending time with her parents before they expired. Much as she mocks them for throwing their lives away in their lab work, she really does miss them, and wishes more time was spent together, as a family, as opposed to simply her off on her own, and them locking themselves in the lab. At the time she simply just, let things happen. Neither tried to connect, and eventually, there was no longer time to.
30:Reaction to sudden intrapersonal disaster (eg close family member suddenly dies)
Kiza: Hoo boy. She has nightmares worrying about this all the time as is. Were say, one of her progeny to die, Kiza would be devastated. Utterly collapse in herself. However...that would be privately, away from scrying eyes. Outside of that, she would work. She would just work, work, work. Bitter and cold towards any that tried to talk to her, and with absolutely no patience whatsoever to any mishaps. Expect a very, -very- strict supervisor for the next several months, and one that spends nearly every night late at the lab, working and sipping down elixirs of her work, to stave off both stress and sleep. Anything to keep her mind busy. Anything to keep it from dwelling, and another breakdown occurring. Always on the verge, yet herself always struggling to fight it back, and refusing to let anyone see what she perceives to be her weakness.
Myuu: Similar to Kiza, she’d distract herself. Dissimilar, however, is the method of how. Myuu wouldn’t bury herself in work. Far from it. She’d bury herself in play. Just, more thrillseeking, more parties and nonsense. All to keep her mind busy, shoo away and lingering thoughts and pain with a neverending flow of amusement and shallow fun. It’s how she dealt with her parents passing.
33:Concept of home and family?
Kiza: Home and family are -very- important to Kiza. As in, they more or less make up the core of her values and what she is. Everything she does, she does for family. Each action intended to benefit them, or improve Tyria for them to live in. She holds her progeny dear to her heart, above everything else. Lovers, work, you name it, she values her children above them. She may be fiercely loyal to the inquest, but should her position in such threaten her progeny’s safety, she would be out without a second thought.Myuu: Though outwardsly she seems to shun and mock the concept of family and home, it is something Myuu values. She knows she will never have one of her own, and accepts that, but regardless she can’t help but wonder what such would have been like. Both her parents persisting, and herself becoming a parent one day. She never shows it, but she holds the thoughts, even though of dead wishes, close.
34:Thoughts on privacy? (Are they a private person, or are they prone to ‘TMI’?)
Kiza: Is fairly private. She doesn’t share much about herself, her life, her goals or her ideals, electing only for a select few to know such. She’s a whole other side to her that is rarely seen, and most simply get a reclusive, bitter appearing alchemist, with a perpetual frown, and undying criticism. She’s resistant to give information about herself, to unravel, but it is possible, and has happened before.Myuu: She’s kind of..flip floppy, on this? She never really talks about her condition, or her parents, or anything emotional like that. However just about any topic? She just about can’t shut up, even if you -really- wish she would.
37:Are they more analytical or more emotional in their decision-making?
Kiza: Analytical, for certain. That kind of cold logic serves her well in the inquest. Condemn 10 subjects to suffering? Well doing so furthered a project to empower 100 asura. A logical, worthwhile exchange to herself, even if from an emotional standpoint, horrid and cruel. She makes decisions like this regularly, objectively looking at each situation, and going off of pure numbers, usually. There are, however, times when she does make emotional decisions, like involving her children, or a few with her recent interactions with Zixa. Though on the latter, she’ll often cover up such decisions with a veil of logic, fooling even herself that it’s simply a logical choice she’s making, based purely off of these objective facts. Feelings? Emotions? Nah, she’ll deny that, even tricking herself.
Myuu: Emotional, definitely. She makes choices not based on what makes sense, but on what she finds to be the most appealing action, what speaks to her heart more at the time. Almost every decision is spur of the moment, and the first that comes to thought. She does what feels right, not what analytically is.
38:What recharges them when they’re feeling drained?
Kiza: Usually, either a quick drink of a more domestic, soothing elixir she has brewed, or reading through tomes covering various areas of study, are Kiza’s main methods for recharging and relaxing. She often also brews said domestic elixirs, or will spend time tinkering with contraptions. Anything that still manages to keep her mind somewhat busy. This has, however, changed in recent weeks. She finds herself recharging also through activities with Zixa. Cooking has been one such new activity, and one she’s found herself to quite enjoy. Alongside that is assisting with the learning projects of a class of progeny, or simply sitting and discussing any manner of topic.
Myuu: Her? Drained? Pft as if. She’s rarely drained, and a huge bundle of energy. That said, were she to be drained, which, okay, yeah, I’ll admit she does sometimes. Usually just eating junkfood and watching a holoplay is enough to get her recharged.
42:How far did they get in formal education? What are their views on formal education vs self-education?
Kiza: Graduated high in her class in the College of Dynamics! She considers formal education quite advantageous, as the several professors allow for a much greater well of knowledge to draw from, than learning on one’s own.
Myuu: Dynamics graduate as well, middling grades. Though she performed on par with everyone else, she doesn’t particularly value formal education, and much of her currently employed skills are self taught.
47:How do they express love?
Kiza: That depends on if she even -realizes- she feels love towards someone, as she is one to deny such feelings, and often not know at all how she feels regarding such. If she openly loves someone, and is fully aware of her feelings on them, she expresses love by several fond gestures. Embraces, nuzzling the other’s cheek, and brief kisses paired with fond smiles. Alongside that she would often leave something the other enjoys in a location that would be easy to find, as a gift. Say, a pair of fresh scented candles sitting on a desk, for example. That, along with constant assistance in their endeavors. Helping with projects, the like. That is how she is when openly loving someone. When unaware of her emotions, however, there are still signs and actions she does, even if she excuses it under the veil of logic. Perhaps a gift is still brought, but she explains it away by saying she simply noted the other was running low on such, and she thought she would resupply to assist with optimal workflow. Perhaps the time spent in their presence is simply for the mutual benefit for both to facilitate high morale, and thus, better work optimization. She still brightens up around such people, however. Often growing more lax and friendly, though again, she herself hardly notices.
Myuu: Uh, hrm..well, -usually- she just outright avoids love. She’s quite certain she will die in the next year or so, so why pursue something that’s just going to leave any potential companion broken when the time comes? However, were she to express love to someone, expect her to invite them to plenty of activities. Sure, she invites most people to activities, but usually more exciting, adventurous ones. It’s rare she just, asks someone to sit with her and gaze at the stars, or simply watch a holofilm with her. If she does, though, it may mean she feels more. Or maybe she just feels lazy that day. Who knows.
49:Is this person afraid of dying? Why or why not?
Kiza: Not particularly. She knows her death will come, and likely sooner than she’d rather, due to the hatred many feel towards the inquest. If anything, she’s more afraid of her progeny expiring before she does. She wants to be long gone before any one of her progeny is cremated. Unfortunately, one such case has already happened. She fears a second, or alchemy forbid, third.
Myuu: Not at all. She’s aware of her mortality, and wholly accepts on it, giving it little afterthought. She’s even planned for her death, with an overly complicated and over the top “last moment”. She wants to go out laughing, grinning, and probably doing something really, really stupidly risky. After all, why die rotting away in a bed, which would almost certainly be her fate, when she can go out while still mostly in her prime, departing before anyone can pity, before she herself can have time to get sad.
@hanglingrush so I finally figured out what Zixa would wear for Mad King’s day. It’s perfect and no one can tell me and my 2 minutes in photoshop making this otherwise.
01. What does your character’s name mean? Did you pick it for the symbolism, or did you just like the way it sounded?
Literallly I just liked the way it sounded. Most of my names just came from a name generator, then I adjusted a few letters to make it a bit more personal.
03. What would be their favorite physical trait about themselves?
Physical? Huhm. Well she has a lot of mental traits she’s boastful about, but I guess physical would be the ears. I mean they are very well developed, and she enjoys flaunting them especially when it flusters people.
05. Are they sexually confident or more of the shy type?
Kiza is confident in all aspects in her life. She’s usually the one to take the lead, and is none too reserved on the subject.
09. Do they have a favorite season? What about a favorite holiday?
Spring would be a favored season of her. Warm, but not too warm, and generally a more upbeat time. As for holiday? Wintersday, hands down. Even though she celebrates it alone nowadays, she has many fond memories of celebrating with her progeny. Not to mention it’s a day asura can show their technological prowess, just look at Tixx’s stuff!
10. Is your character more feminine or masculine?
Huhm..I hadn’t really thought of this before. I guess if one were to go off of traditional gender roles, she’d be fairly masculine? She’s got an agressive, domineering personality, is very competitive, and the like. However, she is also a very, -very- motherly and nurturing figure to her progeny and those she cares for. So…all in all I guess it’s a good ol’ neutral as far as social gender norms go?
13. What are your character’s sleeping habits? Heavy or light sleeper? Blanket stealer? One that always rolls onto the floor? Pushes their lover onto the floor? Sleep talker or walker?
Generally, Kiza is a moderately light sleeper. A pin drop won’t wake her, but if someone were to get off the bed she was in, or a reasonable amount of noise was made, she’d wake. She’s also a bit of a sleep talker. It’s very quiet murmuring, easily missed if one’s not listening. Usually it’s just random technobabble, but every once in a while, something meaningfull, relevant, and perhaps not something she’d want others to hear, slips out.
15. Is there a certain person in this world that they cannot stand? The very mention of this person’s name makes them tremble with anger or fear.
The father of her progeny. She hates him. Hates him with an absolute burning passion. She doesn’t give him the privilege of mention, and hopes to mentally kill him through absolute lack of word.
19. Would your character be the kind to get into fights? (physical or verbal) Would they be a good fighter or cave in rather easily?
Aaaabsolutely. Kiza has a very abrasive, antagonistic personality to those she deems lesser (which is most people). Though she usually starts up verbal quarrels, should it turn physical, she won’t shy away. Though she’s far less likely to throw punches, and more likely to just pull her gun out.
22. What kind of tattoos, piercings, birthmarks, freckles, and other such unique physical features do they have?
Well an obvious bit would be her prosthetics. Her left arm, most notably, though Kiza’s right foot just above the ankle and below is also a prosthetic. It’s less seen, however, as she often wears pants and boots that cover such. Past that, there are several scars on her torso, remnants from several raids against past bases she has operated in.
28. If your character became a celebrity, what would they be famous for?
Making tyria great again. All bookahs would be deported off the planet. Or, more realistically, likely creating a breakthrough elixir that revolutionizes the field.
30. When it comes to the arts (music, film, theater, etc), what does your character like?
Kiza…doesn’t really do much as far as recreation or arts go. She hasn’t had time to even develop tastes to anything. That said she’d likely like mystery related stuff, and other things that require her to think while observing.
33. If your character wanted to be alone, where would they go?
Her personal quarters, stone door closed and entrance terminal disabled. Her quarters are soundproofed, and if she wants to be alone, she can be, for several days. Most likely she’ll be burying herself in some work, distracting herself from whatever made her wish to be alone.
36. Does your character have any medical conditions? Are they serious or minor? Do they affect their day to day life?
Kiza often abuses her own elixirs when stressed, and this has caused a dependency on them. While not extreme, she can get agitated if she doesn’t get one of her mixes, and when particularly stressed, partakes in such to an excess. Usually no issue arises though. She just takes a sip now and then, and gets on with her life.
37. What are some of your character’s pet peeves? What are some things that annoy them or disgust them?
Just about anything related to bookahs. There a non asura even near her? She’s probably annoyed. Excessive loudness? Agitating. Stupid questions? Hoo boy you better believe you’ve annoyed her.
39. When people look at your character, is there some assumption they might make about them just by appearance? Is that assumption correct?
Thaaat she’s rude? High-and-mighty? Disdainful? Based on her general public behavior, that would be a common first thought. That or the sizable ears. All are correct.
43. Does your character have a switch that changes aspects of their personality whether they are around friends, family, etc. Is there someone who gets to see their true self?
Absolutely. Though Kiza is usually harsh, critical, and dry to most people, around her progeny, and a very select few others, she is nearly the opposite. Patient, caring, extremely kind and nurturing. She can be really, really nice when she wants to. She just rarely does. As for those to get to see her true self? No one’s really seen Kiza’s true thoughts. Or at least not all of them. Portions, filtered to an extent she’s allowed to be seen by again, a select few, but no one’s seen her completely unfiltered.
45. Is your character the kind to hide their true emotions or do they wear their heart on their sleeve?
As stated before, she hides her emotions. It’s rare that someone gets to see her true thoughts and feelings, and often only get snippets at best.
48. Is there anything in particular that would ignite your character’s jealousy? Or does your character not get envious?
If someone were to get recognition for something she herself had done thanklessly, Kiza would become very, very jealous. She wants her work and endeavors to be noticed, and having it passed by, especially when someone else gets praise, will spark quite a lot of jealousy.
50. If your character confessed love to their crush, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc, what would they say?
Hmmm...honestly? She’d probably just be upfront and state it directly. Something like “If not made plainly clear already, I’m fond of you, and not in a purely platonic fashion, either. You’ve mental, physical, and romantic appeal. I wish to pursue all three.”
👀 : Kiza! If there was one thing that would utterly destroy your life and leave you an empty husk, what would it be? And, do you think you'd be able to recover? What would you be like afterwords?
Kiza stared at her questioner. The fingers of both her hands, prosthetic and organic clutched lightly to her coat. The leather bunched up slightly, crushed between each limb as the alchemist’s brow furrowed, none too pleased. “The fact that such a question would ever be asked is...concern raising. Consider yourself watched, and extra safeguards to prevent such being erected.”Heavily, she sighed, lifting her organic hand from her coat, and rubbing at a temple. “It would be the loss of my life’s work. That which I have spent more than two decades of my life on. Such a project is my pride, and, dare I say it, my singular source of joy in this otherwise bleak world.”
“To..” A pause, she dragged a hand down her face, clearly disconcerted. “To lose such would be..shattering. At this age, it is unreasonable for me to start anew, and, even if I did..it would never be the same endeavor as before. The same product. No, that would be lost forever..a vital part of me, gone forever. For something to persist after a vital part of it is no longer there is a..difficult task. I would certainly try, but, that is not something I can guarantee.”
The alchemist was silent for some time, arms now folded as her ears twitched and flicked. Still, she stared directly at her questioner. “Before I ceased, though. I would ensure whatever brought about an end to my work would suffer. Greatly. There is no punishment too great for such an act. And- were I to persist, I would bury myself in other projects..simple as that. Idleness would allow me to dwell on what was lost. I- cannot allow that.”
You need to calm the HECK down. That said heck yea questions
5.On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?
Probably a datapad, data crystal, small tools, a writing utensil, and other portable things she would need for work.
6.Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?
Not particularly. Her dreams are rather standard, and vary from each one.
10. Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?
More! She’s almost always in full uniform, which is quite a bit. It’s a chore to take off, and rather protective with a good amount of utility. She enjoys wearing it, and finds anything less to be inconvenient. She doesn’t exactly get shy when wearing little, more she thinks “I have almost no pockets and my vitals aren’t protected what is this nonsense”
17. What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?
Huhm...that’s a tricky one. I’ve never honestly thought of toys she would like as a child. I imagine she’d enjoy a model golem kit, if such exists! Having something to constantly tinker and experiment with would have kept young Kiza very occupied.
19. What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?
Kiza has lots of relationship flaws, but...biggest? That’s hard to say.Perhaps the fact that her partner will -never- be number one on her list. At the very best, they can hope to be third priority to Kiza. Her priority goes progeny, inquest, then significant other. If the either two are threatened, she will work to protect those before her companion. It’s certainly damaged relationships with her before. No one likes hearing “You’re not my top priority” from their companion.
21. If something tragic or negative happens to your character, do they believe they may have caused or deserved it, or are they quick to blame others?
Depends on the situation, really. I’d say most of the time she believes the fault lies in others, but there are definitely times where she blames herself quite heavily.
25. How quick is your character to suspect someone else? Does this change if they are close with that person?
Kiza’s naturally suspicious of just about everyone she meets. When you’re part of a krewe where half the world wants you dead..it’s a useful thing to be. However she is generally more trusting of people when she is close to them, but the suspicion never fully dissipates.
28. How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation?
Depends on if the other person appears like a threat or not. She’s certainly quick to verbal lashings in a confrontation, but generally prefers outsmarting and outwitting in confrontations, as opposed to violence. However if the other person already looks ready to fight, and she deems them a threat, she’ll likely shoot first. Better she get the first blood than have to worry about getting hurt herself.
31. Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable.
A scenario in which she felt the absolute most comfortable is something that won’t happen for her ever again. That was holding her progeny close, in her lap, and the like when they were young. Having them in such close proximity, safe and sound, was the most calming, comforting thing for Kiza. However her progeny are all adults, now, thus she likely just feels comfortable by resting in bed. It’s rare she ever sleeps in, so it’s valued when she’s able to.
33. In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve?
Usually she’s defensive, and more than likely one to snap and snark at the person criticizing her, even if they’re right (she’ll try to improve once they’re not looking, and act as if she was -always- that way). However she’s much more receptive if the criticism comes from someone that she deems respect worthy, and is generally willing to openly fix her issues in such cases.
34. Is your character more likely to keep trying a solution/method that didn’t work the first time, or immediately move on to a different solution/method?
While Kiza is stubborn in most areas, in this case she’s much more willing to try different options. Perhaps she’ll try the same method once or twice more just in case, but if it still seems to be doing nothing, she’s not going to keep at it.
35. How does your character behave around people they like?
Kiza is just generally nicer to people she likes. She’s much more likely to give friendly advice, rather than actively criticize when such a person makes mistakes, and smiles more often around such. If someone Kiza likes asks her for help, she’ll actually give it, rather than immediately dismissing the person. Now as for people she -likes-? Basically the same thing. Kiza doesn’t get all shy/tsun/blushy/whatever around people she thinks of in that way. She’s just nice and more pleasant/willing to offer compliments.
42. Has your character ever had a parental figure who was not related to them?
Not particularly. Her parents were rather prevalent throughout her life, and overbearing to the point that if she -did- have another figure, she’d probably hate them by default. She’s had a strong sense of independence, so never really goes for any such figures.
44. How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?
Kiza practically never says “I love you” The cases in which she does are few and far between. However, she does have ways to say it without meaning it. If she goes out of her way to offer assistance to someone or compliments their work often, she’s probably fond of them. Almost guaranteed to be such if she ever offers a gift without provocation. She still won’t say it’s because she likes you, though. More likely that she simply noticed you could use whatever the gift was.
45. What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?
Your soul goes to the mists, off to do whatever it is souls do in the mists. Unless she’s killed by bloodstone in which case, welp. Sucks for her. Basicallly she believes the standard Tyrian belief for what happens after death. Nothing particularly special. She’s not particularly scared of death, either. She stares it in the face on a daily basis, inflicts it on those she experiments on, and has had more than one attempt on her life. She knows she’s going to die someday, and she’s accepted that. She just hopes she can make a good impact on the world before that happens.
