I rarely blog on anything Faux Noise shills say since the hosts of their programmes are usually just artifices whose purpose is to push talking points decided by a mix of Roger Ailes, Rupert Murdock, the Kock Brothers, and the Republican Party but Sean Hanity's treatment of Travis Smiley recently was a new low. Fox is desperately trying to appropriate and rebrand Eric Garner's death as a white libertarian outrage against the lethality of an over-bearing state sucking citizens dry of their taxes. This is not only deeply offensive to Eric's family and the hundreds of thousands of people protesting institutionalised and systematic police brutality, but is also a vicious and cynical attempt to derail and divide the debate about racism and the overwhelming burden of extreme offenses by the police that are suffered by black Americans. It really was quite sickening to watch Hanity tell Smiley that he would 'educate him' and demand Smiley to prove that Mike Brown and Eric Garner's deaths had anything to do with racism. They are seeking to split the Brown and Garner cases and also divorce them from race whilst maintaining that although Garner didn't deserve to die, apparently Brown did. While they do this they are maintaining, using outright lies and selectively chosen 'evidence' from a small number of witnesses in the Brown case, that Brown was responsible for his own death. It's disgusting and no less than what I'd expect from this propaganda outlet of misogynist and racist white supremacist ideology.
