" If you mention him one more time I may impale myself with this spoon" Did he just say that? Logan looked at the spoon in his hand. He didn't think about what he said before he said it.

" Who, Patton?" His nerves lit up on fire but he sighed, Logan felt the burn in his chest from the way Virgil simply said his name, like he was being reverent of Patton like he was the savior.

" Yes, does he have to be the main component in all of our conversations?" Logan held the phone closer to his ear. Hoping maybe Virgil would get it.

" I'm slipping Virgil, we have hardly talked in weeks and it is all about how great Patton is. I can't even talk to you. Listen please. "

"I miss conversations being you and I, I want to catch up." Logan said instead, he didn't want to hurt Virgil, meant to much.

" Your his friend too, Lo. I only meant the only thing I'd meant was if I'd never left Pat. I wouldn't have been with Janus. So it's the only thing I'd change about high school."

" Please I can't do this anymore I need you. You're my best friend help me please. HELP-"

" I understand, I'm sorry for overreacting. How long do you have?"

He put his spoon down and pulled his knees to his chest. Coughing into his knees as quietly as possible. There was a blanket wrapped around his thin shoulders.

"Okay, cool I guess, but i have to get back before breakfast rush."

" I love you! Wait!"

" I'm sorry to have interrupted, I'll speak to you later." Logan whispered looking at the bundle of petals and blood bundled in the blankets between his knees.

" Later Lo, maybe we can hang out soon. It's been months." His tone felt so cold, gripping his throat in the icy fingers of death.

" Don't go."

"Sounds satisfactory. "

"Don't go!"

"Cool, next time Lo." Before Logan could stretch the conversation any further the phone went dead in his ear.

Logan cried into his knees thinking of all the years he loved Virgil, how they'd grown up together. And how they didn't date to not ruin something great.

Virgil giving him a pedicure while he read.

Logan making late night picnics when his friend couldn't sleep. Only for them to both fall asleep under the stars curled up together.

"You have to let go Logan... It's killing you" His roommate muttered wrapping the blanket closure around Logan's shoulders before running a hand through his hair.
