Who: @hannahxinterrupted
When: April 8th
Where: Rosie's diner
"No. I'm serious. I lost the bet fair and square. I had no choice in the matter," he told Hannah with a chuckle, taking a drink of his coffee. "You should have seen the looks on the faces at the bar when we all walked in. My guys in their uniforms and me in a dress and combat boots. One of thenmost embarassing nights of my life and pink is definitely not my color. But I did get free drinks all night that night," he added with another laugh over the memory.
It had been a nice change of pace getting to know Hannah over these past few weeks. She had a calming effect on Oscar and it was nice to just relax a little - the heavens above knowing the man needed a fucking break. He'd been wound up so tight since the beginning he'd almost forgotten how to just breathe once in awhile. It was a welcome, albeit unspoken, reminder that even though life outside the walls had ended, his didn't have to.
That was until Abby burst through the doors and attacked Jonah. Without hesitation Oscar sprang in to motion. He slid from his seat across from Hannah in the booth and ushered her from her own space. Effortlessly he pulled his combat knife from his pocket, his sister a flash as she ran over to whete Jonah and Abby struggled.
"Find June and get back to your place. Any enemy in your way, living or dead, don't hesitate," he instructed quickly, shoving the knife into Hannah's hand as he moved her toward the door.
He had just been about to relay he'd come get her when it was all clear when Emily's cries of pain rang out through the diner. He turned to find Abby falling on top of her as she was pulled from Jonah's lap. His eyes grew wide with fear and every bit of ingrained training took flight, leaving behind only a panicked mind. He couldn't lose her. He left Hannah and rushed toward the fight and shoved Abby off of Emily - the scene reminiscent of the beach.
Oscar's grip on Abby faltered when the two crashed to the floor and he scrambled to regain control, refusing to even stand as he wrestled her back into his control. An arm wrapped itself around her neck and squeezed as tightly as he could - the pain radiating from his injured shoulder ignored. Her nails dug deep into his skin as he scooted them both toward the pile of trays Em had dropped a moment ago. The fingers on his free hand felt the cold metal tone of a fork and without a second thought he grabbed hold of it, sinking the silverware deep into Abby's eye socket.
When he yanked it free, her cloudy eye came along with it, but the fight hadn't left her. It took a second, third, fourth, and fifth stab to sink all the way through to her brain, pushing her eye further and further up the tine- the fork becoming lodged and unmoving as her arms immediately went slack. Oscar's chest heaved with exhaustion. His shoulder throbbed, now unable to move and hanging gently longer than usual. He grabbed hold of it and shoved it back into place with a groan as he kicked Abby from top of him.
He didn't fight the tears that began to fall when he found Emily....bitten. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. This couldn't be happening. He pressed as hard as he could to her wound to try and stop the bleeding. "You're right Vinny. It'll be fine. We can fix this, he lied through choked back sobs, hugging her close - completely lost as to what to do anymore.
