A picture wasn’t enough, even though admittedly the princess had kept it stashed away in one of her books. She rationalized it as a way to make sure she would recognize the other when they eventually met, but the bustle of a bonfire made her think that she had probably missed her chance at a less awkward encounter for the two of them.

So instead she took it upon herself to plan a meeting of their own. Unconventional, she knew, but she was sort of excited to meet the person she’d be marrying.
