The cannibal album
Hannibaby #5 : Someone stop teaching that child rude word please.
Hannibaby #4: It will be okay!
mediamaniac23 "Hannibal is sick (with a cold or something) and Will takes care of him" xxx
Will knows that he shouldn’t laugh, but the first time he hears Hannibal’s sick voice, he has to learn to understand him all over again.
Hannibal’s accent is thicker and he’s congested and yet not-too-disgusting—as if the universe and Hannibal have some sort of agreement about what is and is not acceptable.
He’s a few months along in his pregnancy, but not so much that it keeps him from functioning normally.
Sick as he is, however, Hannibal sees differently.
"How is she?" Hannibal asks, although no one has confirmed the sex. He has been sentenced to bedrest, and he allows it if only to prove to Will that one should put their health above all else—the pregnancy has made him very protective.
"She’s fine," Will says, humoring Hannibal, and places a bowl of soup in front of the man.
Hannibal sniffles, and turns up his nose at it.
"I’m not putting people in your chicken soup,” Will says, but it’s fond and they share a smile. Absently, he rubs at his swollen abdomen.
"You shouldn’t be near me," Hannibal asserts. "She is too important to risk." If Abigail hadn’t left already, Will is certain Hannibal would only allow her to help.
Will rolls his eyes. “It’s just a cold,” he says, but Hannibal frowns.
Although he has just warned otherwise, Hannibal beckons Will closer and Will acquiesces.
Hannibal places a hand to Will’s bump and although his eyes are glassy with his illness, the way his lips curl with joy is genuine. “She will be strong,” he announces confidently.
Will rolls his eyes, but he can’t help smiling, too. “Eat your soup.”
mediamaniac23 "Will and Haddie making Hannibal breakfast in bed?" xxx
Will is only up because Hasdrubal is up. She is--and he blames Hannibal entirely for this--completely silent even as she nudges him to get his attention.
Will glances over to find Hannibal still asleep and something about that knowledge pleases him, as if they're pulling one over on Hannibal. As quietly and calmly as he can, Will slips from the bed, taking Haddy's hand and leading her out of the bedroom.
"What's wrong?" he asks, and his mind creates visions of her nightmares, of his own that involve his precious baby girl. It leaves him a bit shaken, but he hopes he doesn't let on.
Hasdrubal bites her lip and Will scoops her up, knowing how she loves being held. Physical affection used to be uncomfortable for him--it still is, with most--but he will give all for his family. He hums in what he hopes is a soothing manner and takes her to the kitchen, far enough from his sleeping husband that he doesn't fear disturbing Hannibal too much.
"It's papa's birthday," Haddy tells him after he's placed her on the counter--a secret Hannibal need never know, although he probably does, anyway--and Will looks at the clock.
an odd name [Hannibal/Will, Jack]
Related to these.
"'Hasdrubal'?" Jack repeats and Will sighs, rubbing his eyes under his glasses. Jack is looking at Will and not the bundle in his arms.
"You can call her 'Haddy' if my daughter's name is too difficult for you to pronounce," he tells Jack, annoyed.
"It's an odd name," Jack says. "Dr. Lecter's idea, I presume?"
Will shrugs. He trusts Jack to hold her, but it's weird at the same time. He's exhausted and stressed though. She's nearing a month now and he's had to adjust to being a father and not just an incubator. Hannibal hasn't stopped waiting on them both hand and foot, forcing Will to rest.
This is the first time he's gotten to introduce his daughter to his friends and colleagues--one at a time.
"Haddy, huh?" Jack says, but he's talking to her now.
"Hasdrubal," Hannibal corrects as he joins them, seemingly appearing out of nowhere.
Jack covertly raises an eyebrow at Will, who only shrugs and smiles.
Why Hasdrubal? > Hannibal the Carthaginian commander (Hannibal Barca) had a younger brother named Hasdrubal. Hannibal also succeeded his brother-in-law, another Hasdrubal, as leader. Hannibal Barca has been called the 'father of strategy,' of which Lecter seems to have followed suit. Hasdrubal means 'Ba'al helps' from the Phoenician 'azru' for 'help' combined with Ba'al, god of storms and fertility. Fun facts for you.
