about that anon- i feel as a budding writer/filmmaker that we as creative artists should have a responsibility of having good representation. and the thing is, it doesnt have to be boring? bc we've seen divisions through race, gender, etc. we dont need to focus on that at all, but by just having good representation can actually focus on proper issues and themes that explore more meaningful ideologies. having problematic content does not equate to 'interesting'

I agree, as a writer/creator of media, you should have a responsibility to try not to perpetuate harmful attitudes and to listen to criticisms of your work. And if all your characters are the same, it narrows the range of experiences you write about. The more variety in characters you have, the more storytelling potential you have. It's much easier to be boring if you don't care about representation (in my opinion) than if you do.
