Do we know for sure Hannibal ate his secretary? Are there any major hints? I think I missed all of that

I mean Bryan and everyone has said that he did so I guess everyone just accepts that as canon but. It literally is just word of god. He mentions that he used to have one and it certainly is in character for him to say “she followed her heart” to mean that he ate her heart or whatever but that’s it. That’s the only mention of the secretary in canon.

We are apparently supposed to assume that the person he’s eating in the first scene where we see him eating alone at home is his secretary? But tbh I feel as though this is not made clear at all and certainly it was not my assumption the first several times I watched the show. I have in fact rewatched Aperitif with the specific intention of looking for hints to this and found none other than the somewhat strange mention of her when talking to Jack.

It’s very strange to me that he would murder his secretary while she was still in his employ rather than firing her and killing her later when there was more distance between them?? He’s so incredibly careful about that sort of thing usually. I know obviously she wasn’t a display kill and supposedly just moved away but it still seems like it was kind of a cheap joke to have him have killed her when in general he never kills anyone he has an obvious personal connection to

So we “know for sure” in the sense that Bryan et al have said so, but there’s absolutely nothing in the actual canon of the show that specifically confirms it and I think it doesn’t make any sense. I think it’s a reference to something from the books or movies tho so maybe it made more sense there
