I swear anything off the Antiq label is fucking good!
ALBUMS OF THE WEEK! Time for our regularly scheduled programming. Here are the albums that got the most track plays out of me. The returning winner was Nite’s Voices of the Kronian Moon, which I played incessantly in the days leading up to their Houston show. Next up was Enthroned’s Rites of the Northern Fullmoon (via @themetalheadbox !), followed by the monster new Undeath album (outstanding work, brothers!). I discovered Sylvaine’s wonderful post-black metal record, and dabbled in Ghost Bath for the first time. Finally, I returned to Wraith to feel alive! ☠️ 1. Nite - Voices of the Kronian Moon (2022) 2. Enthroned - Rites of the Northern Fullmoon 3. Undeath - It’s Time…To Rise From The Grave (2022) 4. Hanternoz - Au Fleuve de Loire 5. Sylvaine - Nova (2022) 6. Darkthrone - A Blaze in the Northern Sky 7. Ghost Bath - Self Loather 8. Hallowed Butchery - Deathsongs From the Hymnal of the Church of the Final Pilgrimage 9. Wraith - Undo The Chains ☠️ What was on your playlist this week?
Hanternoz - Au Fleuve De Loire (2021, Antiq Records). This is nature-themed French black metal, very much in the same vein as label mates Véhémence. The packaging is beautiful, and check out that Side D artwork. Yes, there are flutes and a hurdy-gurdy on here (and quite lovely are they), but this album is also powerful and hits hard while maintaining its elegance. Lots of replay value here. Solid recommend from me. 🇫🇷
