Korean Girls Have The Best Costumes
I watched South Korean Nationals
So here are some thoughts.
- I wasn’t really impressed with most of the men in this competition. Jun was amazing (congrats on winning!) and I enjoyed Sihyeong Lee’s free skate, but otherwise - meh :/. It was a pretty low-level comp, with most men not even having a 3A. And even besides the jumps I found it pretty boring to watch, sorry.
- I loved Jun, though. I really adore his The Fire Within FS. Skating to Jennifer Thomas should really be more of a thing; her music is beautiful.
- The Ladies were more fun to watch, even if just because I generally prefer Ladies’ skating. But also because there was more than one interesting skater here.
-First things first: Their dresses are amazing. Honestly, literally all of the Korean ladies should be nominated for the ISU’s “best costume” award.
- I’m so happy for Young!! Congratulations on your 4th National title! Wait, what? 4th National title? Even though she’s a 1st year senior? Apparently yes. I looked it up and she first won Korean Nationals at 11. Huh. The more you know. Good luck to Young at 4CC, Youth Olympics, and Worlds! Oh wow. That’s a lot of competitions.
- I’m also so glad to see all of the Junior girls doing so well!! Haein Lee (congrats on silver!!!), Seoyeong Wi (I was able to watch her free skate for the first time! during the JGP Youtube kept blocking it in my country), Seoyeon Ji, Yeonjeong Park - I loved them during the JGP, especially Seoyeon Ji. Shame that South Korea only has two spots for Junior Worlds, but good luck to Haein and Seoyoung there!!!
- Congrats to Yelim Kim for winning bronze and making the 4CC and Worlds teams!!! Good luck there!
- I feel really bad for Eunsoo :((( Shame she won’t get to go to Worlds, especially since she won the second spot for South Korea last year. I’m glad she’ll at least get another chance at 4CC - good luck to her there!
- Hanul Kim was amazing, I love her. I especially like her SP this season, it’s really fun.
- It’s a shame that Dabin Choi withdrew. Does anyone know why? I’m still kind of waiting for her comeback :((((
- A few small shout-outs to Jihun To for skating to “Ashes” from Deadpool 2, to Eunseo Lee for skating to Otonal for her FS (even if it didn’t go that well), and to Hyunsoo Choi for wearing a Wonder Woman outfit.
- Young and Haein were adorable during the Victory Ceremony.
