   If there was anyone who disliked events as much as her it had to be her cousin, Trista. Trista's twin, on the other hand, she was someone who seemed to find anything amusing because she forced it to be. And it was something Tenel Ka admired and enjoyed about her cousin. There was really no one like that in the Hapes Consortium, it seemed, and it was refreshing.

   The Queen Mother was watching Taryn now, her lips curled the slightest bit upwards. "Is that what you have decided to wear to the banquet tonight?"

  "Nope, no assignments. Looks like you're stuck with me," he said, giving her two thumbs up before sliding his datapad from the tabletop and slipping it into the bag slung over his shoulder.

  As she spoke, Zekk found himself getting distracted by a curl of red hair that gently brushed her cheek. It took actual willpower of his not to reach out and move it behind her ear. They had just shared a kiss in front of the others in the room, but somehow just reaching out and touching her seemed like too much.

  They probably weren't even looking at the two of them talking but he felt presences behind him and didn't want them in his business more than they needed to be.

  "Ooooo, is it a Hapan gala?" With a chuckle, he nodded. "Count me in. Do we get to go on assassin-watch?"
