raymond bug was easily the most perfect person she had ever met. it still baffled her that he chose to be with her. jane had a valentines surprise of her own for ray and meeting him at the park was a perfect opportunity to give him part of his gift. jane pulled out her phone and sent ray a text:

Of course, Gwen had gotten one of these candygrams for her “husband”. Not only to uphold the act of their loving relationship, but to maybe...dip a toe in communicating the feelings she’d been developing as of late. After a lot of careful consideration (and quite a bit of anxiety) she’d decided a poem would be the best way to do that--they weren’t her words, but they did convey the things she was thinking. Either he would write it off and think nothing of it, or perhaps he would read in between the lines and-- well, she wouldn’t let herself think that far.

So when she got a candygram from Javi, she was expecting the bare minimum--a box of chocolates and a “Happy Valentine’s Day” card. The roses genuinely surprised her and when she read over the message, her heart leaped into her throat. It was...genuinely charming? A science pun, as the field had been what brought them together in the first place, while also confessing hidden feelings on his part, perhaps??

She immediately tried to play it down. No, surely he was being facetious. But what if he wasn’t? What if he was trying to do the same thing she had done with her poem? Were these actually the feelings he had when she was around? She felt her own pulse spiking, her heart fluttering, and her chest swelling.

Whether or not that had been his intention (and she was definitely going to debate it for the next month at least), this was the first time she’d ever been given an all out Valentine--chocolates, flowers, and all. Taking a deep inhale of the bouquet, her eyelids fluttered with a shaky sigh. She didn’t even notice the smile that had seemed to permanently etch itself on her face.

This was bad. This was so, so bad.

Cass was sure that would be the end of it but nope, she had one more. When she saw who it was from, her heart sank and with trepidation, she read the message. Ouch. Cass wanted to take it as the final straw--a “fuck you too if you wanna be that way”--but she couldn’t. She knew what she was doing was shitty and that Honeymaren didn’t deserve this. As much as she could tell herself that she would’ve left her eventually, this message was clearly giving her an opening to try again.

Maybe if the timing had been different, she would have. But in between everything that had happened, she didn’t have time to waste on a casual fling. And that’s all it had been, right? Casual. Honeymaren would move on, just as Cass already had.

Because she clearly had. She reminded herself that she definitely had, as she held the card tightly in her hand. Looking over the bottle of wine, she remembered that first night that they’d met back in June--the giggling, the fumbling, the mingling warmth of alcohol and body heat. It had been such a different time...

But everything changed. Honeymaren wouldn’t understand.

She threw away the roses, and the card, but the bottle of wine remained--unopened, in her hotel room.

Anna smiled at the note, as much as she loved the chocolate and the flowers, his words were the best part, she still couldn't believe that he was going to be her husband. She chuckled at his words ,i'll make you the happiest woman alive, he already did that every single day, even before they were dating, talking with him was the highlight of her day (when she manage to find him) She knew they would have an amazing day today like they always did, and so she started to run and make her way toward the ice skate knowing he would be working, she couldn't spend another second away from him and she couldn't wait to jump on his arms.

What the fuck? Cass had expected to get one of these things from Rachel, but Toulouse of all people? Her eyes narrowed as she read over the message again, trying to discern where the dig was. She didn’t know how rabbits were supposed to be insulting, but coming from him, she assumed it had to be. This time, she’d throw away both the card and the candy.

As Cass delivered the candygrams, she knew it was only a matter of time before she got one from Rachel. It was like a greatest hits of all the Rachel-isms, and yet she didn’t feel prepared for the wave of emotions that would overcome her. After everything she had learned, she had no idea where she stood with her once best friend--yet said friend didn’t even know she was feeling this way. But how was she supposed to tell her? The more she thought about it, the more her stomach twisted in knots, threatening her with nausea. Swallowing it down, she threw away the candy and roses, but against her better judgement, kept the card.
