Hermes had held onto Happy’s notebook for awhile now, unable to bring himself to contact him and give it back to him. He eventually determined to be civil about it, convincing himself that he was just doing his job after all, and things wouldn’t necessarily be centered around their relationship- their past relationship. It was his job that made him send an e-mail to happy from Student Affairs, saying that someone found his notebook and that if he wanted it, he would have to go to the Student Affairs offices. It was his job that made him not even put his own name on the e-mail, so at the very least Hermes could return Happy’s belongings to him without the worry that Happy just would ignore it because of who the e-mail was really from. It was his job that made him not stare at the notebook for longer than he should’ve. It was his job that made him snap to attention instantly once Happy said that he would come to get it, and it was his job that made Hermes wait for as long as it would take for Happy to get there.
