We look at these photographs and think, if only I could look like that, I’d be happy. The truth is, those photographs we grew up with are not what true beauty looks like. They’re just doctored images, the fantasy of one person’s mind. A fake narrative devised carefully to fool to make us feel bad about who we are. Real beauty isn’t so easy. It’s a delicate force that is coaxed out. It’s shy. It’s not so simple as a mini-skirt, stiletto heels and makeup.
