There's a new addition to the Harbor Hall family!

Have you noticed all of the plastic bottles around the building? Have you seen the bright light coming from the Café? Have you overheard hushed discussions about a robot sighting in Harbor?

Well we would like to introduce your to this currently unnamed "Dream Machine" that has now taken residence in the Harbor Café. We are having a robot baby shower to celebrate!

Mark your calendar for the shower on February 27 at 8pm for fun, food, games, prizes, and the voting for this robot's new name!!

HELLO RESIDENTS!

Welcome back to UMBC, Harbor Hall, and our Tumblr for the spring semester! 

The staff here at Harbor Hall just wanted you to know that there are several awesome events going on here at Harbor in the next few weeks. For the best information and updates check out the HH Facebook page here.

Tonight's event is Save our (relation)Ship at 7pm!

Next Thursday, the Harbor RAs are hosting Free Pancake Night at 7:30.

Then, on February 18, we are going to get our healthy lifestyles on with the R.A.C. City program starting at 7pm.

Make sure to come out to our events to learn some stuff and have a lot of fun (and food)!

Resident Appreciation: Victoria M.

How does this resident make a difference in the community of which they are a part?: This resident has gone above and beyond her role as a student and help floor socials with a group of individuals who have even cast her as an outsider. On Halloween specifically, she bough food items and prepared them for members of the floor - most of whom did not say thank you until prompted. She tries to unite the floor despite this.

Why do you think this person’s involvement is important, needed, and necessary?: I think the positive attitude and helpful behavior are beneficial because they allow me, as the RA, a chance to see residents reflecting good modeling behavior. She has ultimately supported the community as a positive influence.

What traits make this resident an exemplary member of his community?:  A positive attitude and a very enduring spirit.

How does this resident make a difference in the community of which they are a part?: Helps me and my roommate with Chem and she made a great dinner for me and a couple of our floormates.

Why do you think this person’s involvement is important, needed, and necessary?: She makes living in Harbor great because of her upbeat personality and her generosity. 

What traits make this resident an exemplary member of his community?: Enthusiasm, kindness, generosity, etc

Resident Appreciation: Mayowa B.

How does this resident make a difference in the community of which they are a part?: Mayowa is taking an issue that he wants to see change to the CAB to try to make it happen. He wants to give all residents of Harbor access to all floors so that a broader community can be built through the building.

Why do you think this person’s involvement is important, needed, and necessary?: Initiating change is an important quality for the development and growth of any community. Mayowa is exercising his right to initiate change and is doing so for the betterment of the whole building.

What traits make this resident an exemplary member of his community?: Mayowa is very friendly and takes the time to say "Hi" to those around him. He participates in programs and is an overall warm person to be around.

How does this resident make a difference in the community of which they are a part?: Charlie makes everyone smile!! He is so friendly and active in the community. I've seen him at many programs and I think he is in CAB, at least unofficially. He also is a desk staffer in Erickson.

Why do you think this person's involvement is important, needed, and necessary?: Honestly, because he brightens anyone's day. Charlie genuinely cares about the Harbor community and he is willing to give up a cookie that he just made.. A very delicious cookie!

What traits make this resident an exemplary member of his community?: His positive attitude, his drive and dedication, and he is very outgoing.
