Why is it ES now? When I started hanging around here it was SS. I like the ring of Super Shippers and it gives me a mental picture of a tin hat and a cape. I took a break for a little while. Why the change in term?
Actually, Anon, I first coined them Hardcore Shippers, and that got shortened to Hardies, then it became Super Shippers, and then I’m pretty sure it was another non-shipper who started the Extreme Shippers moniker. Personally, I don’t like Super Shippers because the word Super has more positive connotations. I’m Ok with going back to Hardcore Shippers-Hardies or keeping Extreme Shippers–ES, or better yet the new one I coined, Irrelevants–IR’s It almost sounds like the IRS and that always has a negative connotation. ;-)
PS: I am not referring to REGULAR shippers. I have NO problem with regular shippers, i.e. those fans who would love it if Sam and Cait were a couple, but know and respect that they are not, and are with other people. The fandom only has a problem with those hardcore, super, extreme shippers who think Sam and Cait are liars, that they are secretly together and lying to everyone, that Tony is Cait’s P.A. or her gay friend, Mackenzie is Sam’s paid girlfriend or beard, TPTB are keeping Sam and Cait apart until some merger happens (that already happened) and thus, they harass, threaten and bully anyone who gets in the way of their SamCait fantasy. THOSE types of shippers are the ONLY ones anyone has a problem with.
