Information about natural waxes

Vegetable wax is part of a new generation of unrefined ecological waxes derived from natural and, above all, renewable plant materials. They are completely biodegradable and do not release soot unlike mineral waxes such as paraffin.  

The vegetable waxes have a particular quality: their low melting temperature allows a prolonged duration of the combustion and ensures an excellent diffusion of the essential oils. Emollient, they are perfect for the realization of massage candles. The wax is easy to clean with soap and warm water.

Vegetable waxes have a low melting point so do not let your candles in the sun, they could "sweat". If this happens, remove them from the heat source and they will return to their normal appearance. Similarly, in very cold conditions, it could freeze, expand and create air pockets in the candle ... Again a return to normal room temperature will return its original qualities.

To improve the beneficial effects of our candles, we use exclusively untreated cotton wicks that are pre-soaked in wax for better combustion, labeled oeko-tex. There are many types of waxing and the significant one is about Hard Wax vs. Soft Wax because these types of waxing are very good but varies on how they are done. 

All candles are a fire hazard and should be used with caution and safety precautions: Never leave a lit candle unattended. Never leave a burning candle in a draft or near flammable objects. Do not leave a lighted candle in the presence of children, or make sure they understand that it is not a toy or something that can be eaten.

What is this frosted effect?

The frosted effect is when white crystals form on the top of the candle (a bit like chocolate). this effect sometimes occurs with candles in soy wax or rapeseed, an effect inherent to their natural composition that varies with the temperatures. Most people are not happy with this and even say it's a sign that the candles are in natural wax and not paraffin wax. It also happens that the candle is slightly off the glass with temperature variations, another feature inherent to its natural composition.

Some candle makers add paraffin to natural wax to eliminate these minor drawbacks. Our candles are made of 100% natural wax (without palm oil) and we do not add any mineral elements to our candles, but our manufacturing methods have been developed to reduce these small defects to the maximum.

How to clean leftover vegetable wax?

Vegetable waxes are easy to clean with hot water and soap. But do not throw the leftovers in your sink, you will stop your pipes! If there is a little wax left in your containers, heat the glass a bit (for example with a water bath or hair dryer), wipe the melted wax with a piece of paper that you can use to light your fireplaces. You can then clean your glass normally.

What is the composition of the candles?

Our choice initially focused on products based only on essential oils (a passion for a long time), but during markets and direct contact with the public, we had many requests for scents that we does not find in these. We have therefore come closer to perfumers to develop perfumes specially designed for vegetal wax candles, allowing a very good restitution of scents, but without polluting ingredients that are usually found in candles (CMR and phthalates). These perfumes have been made to measure for us according to very strict specifications and are therefore strictly CMR-free, components that are found very often naturally in essential oils. The rapeseed wax is guaranteed without GMO and is of European origin. The vegetable oils used in massage candles are certified organic. The locks are in untreated cotton labeled oeko-tex.
