Even knowing how Maki’s lab looks by now, it was still surprising to see just the many variety of weapons she had: some he’s sure he doesn’t know what they exactly are. It was why Shuichi decided to come along with her so she could explain how some of them worked, too. Even though he knows Maki doesn’t mind telling him, a part of him still hopes it’s actually okay to.... he’d feel bad if he makes her have to bring up any unpleasant memories or reminders regarding any of the weapons.

The poison was one of the first things that caught his eye, wondering what kind it was and how she used it. And while he was listening at the beginning, he started to get lost in thought. Thinking about... how Maki can naturally just explain these things. Even if he was the curious one that wanted her to explain, it still couldn’t help but hurt his heart, in a way: that this is the lifestyle she had to be brought in...

(”Maki...”) But it’s when Maki stops for a  moment to call out to him- “!!” Does he finally snap back into reality and quickly looks towards her, flailing.

“H-Huh!? O-Oh, what did you say? S-Sorry!! I didn’t mean to zone out like that...”

if she’s walking around with someone she likes she absolutely will try to hold their hand as they walk around

and even if they’re just doing something as simple as sitting in a dorm together or smth kaede will still hold their hand as much as she can

she sees it as one of the best gestures you can do to show that you care about someone

Peering over Maki’s shoulder into Class 79′s presentation for the school festival, Sonia looked from the array of tables, most handled easily by Kirumi Tojo and K1-B0, to the stage, and back to the reservation sheet. They were determined, as were the rest of the main and reserve courses alike, to accomplish two things with the event: showcase their skills and raise some money for their class trip. It seemed that the underclassmen had chosen some sort of café or dining theatre, food with accompanying entertainment at certain times of the day: from Kaede Akamatsu playing songs by request to Himiko Yumeno performing magic to Gonta Gokuhara’s showcase of the big and beautiful world of bugs (Sonia noted that while every scheduled performance still had availability on the reservation sheet, Gokuhara’s had, by far, garnered the least amount of interest).

“Really? I would have thought many of the performances and dining times would have been full of interested parties already,” Sonia beamed, having offered the dark-haired girl the compulsory 1500 yen entrance fee that would earn her a snack and a drink and an hour of time at her respective table. Extra food or viewing additional shows would increase the cost. “Goodness, I feel very torn, in the middle of a dilemma. You see, I’d love to support all of you, but I must cherish this unique experience of a ‘school festival’ and engage in such normal student activities as much as I can!”

She’d done most of her festival participation leading up to the event itself: while she’d proposed a haunted house, the winning idea for Class 77-B had been a video game arcade, complete with tournaments and prizes. Fortunately for the rest of the school, Chiaki Nanami would not be playing and instead, with Sonia as her right-hand woman, was in charge of organizing and running it all. But the Ultimate Princess planned to embrace every aspect of the day, from making sure tournaments began and ended on time to exploring how the rest of the school was participating.

“Which performance do you recommend, Harukawa-san? It’s such a challenge to choose,” Sonia smiled to her. “Unless there’s one I should not miss? Is every member of your class exhibiting their talents today?”

She couldn’t be sure, what with Maki handling the distribution of tickets and pocketing of money for their class, if they’d all be taking turns on stage. But she was likely one of the most dependable and informed members of the class for the job (most students and potential patrons, it seemed, at little patience for both Miu Iruma and Kokichi Ouma’s jeers and jests as they walked by).

     { ♫ } if there was one person who needed a hug in this school more than anyone else, it was maki harukawa. the girl always seemed so stand-offish and closed off, and kaede felt bad. maybe she just didn’t see herself as someone worthy of being friends with?

no matter what the reason, kaede couldn’t allow it.

so when she saw maki, sitting all on her own outside, kaede made her move. she sat down right next to the girl, and gently wrapped her arms around her, pulling her into a soft embrace. she made sure not to squeeze the girl or anything, as she wanted maki to feel comfortable.

❝ sorry, i dunno if you’re really the hugging type, harukawa-san. but i just... felt like maybe this was something you needed. you’re always keeping your distance from everyone else, so i wanted to show you that... you don’t have to. ❞

It had been a truly misfortunate situation. That was everyone’s thought, except for the person currently in the thick of it. 

It had been arranged for the duration of Sonia’s time at Hope’s Peak to have her clothes sent out to a laundry service, if just for the ease of focusing on her studies while she insisted on living the life of a ‘normal student.’ But when the cleaners both suffered a flooded basement and a loss of power after a recent storm and the Ultimate Princess was left without clean pajamas, cotton shirts, and the like, she’d politely waved away the prospect of purchasing new, clean clothes to tide her over until the business re-opened in favor of washing clothes herself in the Hope’s Peak laundry room. A place she’d never had much reason to visit before yet her classmates (those who lived on campus, anyway) seemed to congregate.

For the blonde, it would, without a doubt, be an adventure she needed to embark upon. And so with two baskets of clothes (one under each arm), she trudged her way into the laundry room which was mostly deserted save for one student: Maki Harukawa, her underclassman and very talented with the caring of children. If not for her own clothes, that must have been why she was there on an afternoon free of classes, Sonia supposed as she set the baskets down in front of two washing machines (she guessed. Inside, visible through the clear panel in the door, there were soap and suds. That seemed appropriate for the washing of clothes!).

“Good afternoon, Harukawa-san! Are you too cleaning the laundry today?” She asked cheerily, dumping the contents of one basket, her various light colored attire, into one machine and in the other, the few amounts of bold or dark colors she had. “It seems unfortunate to remain in doors due to our chores, but that is the life of ‘normal students!’” Her words did not match her demeanor: all smiles with excitement in her blue eyes as she reached for a set of coins in her pocket as well as the bottle of liquid detergent that remained in one of the baskets. Picking it up, Sonia gave it a quizzical glance before shrugging her shoulders.

And promptly dumping half the bottle into one machine, the other half into the other. There weren’t very clear directions on it after all, and in Sonia’s mind, more soap had to ensure things were cleaned properly! 

“Now, I think each machine requires a 100 yen coin to operate,” She insisted, closing the tops of each machine and inserting the coins in the proper slots. With a chuckle, she pushed the tray into the machines to activate them. “Though there are so many settings! It’s incredible how one can keep them all figured out. I suppose...yes, I read the whites go on the warm setting and the colors on the cold!”

It truly would be one of her less-bungled attempts at domesticity, if she hadn’t put in twenty times the amount of detergent needed into each machine.

“I’m not disgusted at her and I would never be. It’s just that her job is… something else. I-I don’t really know the details but maybe I should bring it up one day… Maybe that way I’ll understand a little bit more about that side of hers. Nyeh… I’m not judging.”

“She’s pretty and I like her, but I wouldn’t want to ruin our friendship cuz of dates and romantic stuff. If she ever asked me out on a date, I would have to think about it. I wouldn’t like to lose a friend over that.”

“There are many things I like about her. She’s calm and she can very patient when I don’t understand stuff. She’s also a good listener and she knows when I need to be left alone. All the same, she knows that there are times when I say I need space but, in reality, I just want her to be there. She’s the type of friend I know I can always count on and that I can tell her anything without her being excessively worried. I also admire how strong she is.”

“Nyeh… Sometimes she can be too stiff and tense. It’s like she’s always on guard, waiting for an unexpected sneak attack or something of the sort. I wish she could let that feeling go every so often. It’s obviously not easy to do that, but she could give it a try.”

that was a lie. kaede knew exactly what to say, but she just didn’t know how she wanted to say it. she had so much she wanted to tell maki, but had no idea how to word what she wanted to get out.

so instead, she decided that actions spoke louder than words, and she gently stepped forward, leaning closer to the girl and placing a soft, quick kiss on her lips.
