Putting it under read more so it doesn’t clog the dashboard.
It wasn’t absolutely insane, right? Just pick the first flight to Washington, drive up to her apartment and just knock?
It isn’t insane.
It is but he is doing it nonetheless. He isn’t the type to feel nervous, especially when it came to women but this was Sarah. When it came to her his world is constantly rearranging. He cannot make sense of his own heart and the way his palm become clammy all of a sudden. But as he stands there in front of her door, waiting for an answer, Harm is starting to think about how all of this could go horribly wrong. It has before, they flown too high, crashed and burned really hard. He doesn’t want a repeat of that. Harm isn’t sure they could survive another flight like that but he is feeling hopeful. It wasn’t a strange feeling for him, he is the type of person that has a bleeding heart but sometimes hope is the cruelest joke fate could tell.
He shouldn’t be here, really he needs to turn around, claim temporary insanity and just leave but seeing that picture of Mac had brought upon a long list of unfinished business and the more he thinks about it, the stronger the invisible pull becomes. Harm is trying hard to talk himself out of this, but his heart wasn’t budging and good things too. The moment the door opened revealing a stunt Mac on the other side all that fight just faded away. Beautiful, even more so that the picture she had accidentally sent him. There must be someone out there looking out for him because he really isn’t sure he’d be here today if it wasn’t by the fluke of destiny.
“Good evening.” Lucky he remembered how to talk. “I hope I didn’t come at a bad time.” Mac seemed to be processing everything still, but she is stepping out of the way so he can walk inside. There was a sigh of relief when she allowed him in. He wasn’t sure how she would react, though he supposes it is better than he first thought.
“I didn’t think you were serious.” Mac finally spoke, closing the door behind her but not moving an inch. She is looking at him strangely, maybe thinking that this must be an illusion of some sort. And he hopes for his sake that it isn’t, would be cruel to have her so close and really just be daydreaming.
“I’m always serious when it comes to you.” It wasn’t a lie, it didn’t feel like a lie but she was huffing. Apparently the spell was broken and she finally confirmed that he was, indeed, in her presence. “Finding that hard to believe.” Ouch, his assumption was correct. “If it wasn’t for that photo, you certainly wouldn’t be here.” Damn, two for two. He is on a roll here. “You are making me sound like such an asshole.” He shot back, brow raising in the usual fashion and arms crossing over his chest. “Well, you are an asshole.” Despite her words Harm finds himself shaking his head with a laugh. Seems like some things never change.
“Lovely as ever, Mac.” The brunette smiled though the cynicism in said smile cannot be negate.
Deciding to leave it at that, Harm than added. “Oh, I got something for you.” Reaching to his back pocket, Harm took out shaving razor. “Would you do me the honor of shaving my mustache. I did promise to shave if you accept a dinner invitation.”
Mac did take the razor but spent an absurdly amount of time mulling over his words. For a moment he actually thought that she would said no but a smirk from her told him other wise. “Did you just assumed I would say yes?”
“No, but I did hope a little.” It was what got him into this situation after all and it was certainly the right words to speak because she grabbed his hand and guided him towards the bathroom where she proceeded to shave off a few years of his face.
But we were something, don't you think so?
Roaring twenties, tossing pennies in the pool
And if my wishes came true
It would've been you
In my defense, I have none
For never leaving well enough alone
But it would've been fun
If you would've been the one
