Goddamn. Maybe I should read Pitchfork or something.
While his solo vocal stuff doesn't usually grab me, the Harmonimix set of remixes from James Blake usually do.. Juke bursts of percussion staccato & insistent or hardly there. Synths that might be presets from an old Yamaha digital piano through a worn Boss guitar pedal. Pitch shifted vocals. Dub atmospherics. Overall sound is fried like it was burned to the same CD & ripped with Garage Band at least a dozen times. It's low-fi as in gritty, accessible production - not background music.
Except.. it's really left field remixes of Lil Wayne, Beyonce, Mystikal, Kendrick. Do they know about this? Should someone tell them?
