The Matthias Dandois 2017 Lineage Master build.

It was early Saturday morning, I received a text from Matthias with a desire to build up a Haro Master, the Lineage model, and he planned to hit two of the remaining comps of the year on it. I sprung out of bed to dial this in ASAP!

We sent some text back and forth. I let him know we had the Lineage Master in  yellow or blue and he went with blue. We had his desired top-tube size in 21″ but the rear was going to be a bit longer on the Master (13.75″) than his preferred geometry (13.25″) on his La Bastille, and the added weight of the twin top tubes would also give it a different feeling. Even with these differences, Matthias was still excited to hop on board.

Matthias was born in 1989, the Haro Master had already been alive and well since 1984 so Matthias was about to ride a very prestigious model, just like BMX greats Dave Nourie, Dennis McCoy and Chad DeGroot to name a few.. We couldn’t wait to see this moment, like the rest of the world who knows the intriguing value of the Haro Master!

We installed the cranks Monday and shipped it to New Orleans to arrive when Matthias did on Thursday. With Hurricane Harvey in full force and slowing shipping down, the package didn’t make it to Matthias until Friday evening, a bit too late for him to get used to the new bike. Matthias went on to win the Voodoo Jam the next day on his La Bastille and returned home to France with the Master packed away nicely.

Matthias put the new bike together and had 3 days to get ready for FISE Edmonton on the Haro Master! He dropped a few clips online to show his preparation and he was on his way to Canada. 

Matthias put on a three-minute flawless display and WON the FISE final on the Haro Master! To have Matthias want to ride the Master and then to tick off a victory on it was just one of those moments in our history we’ll always remember.

It’s all just a memory now, with Matthias putting his La Bastille back together already and his Master is now on display in his home in Paris. It was more than great while it lasted...
