location: Mama Kay’s
The bakery café combo had always been something like a warm hug to those seeking refuge, a caffeine pick me up, or a secret sweet treat in Olympus. Charlotte remembered attempting to stop at Mama Kay’s nearly everyday after highschool, just for a breath of fresh air and a moment of peace (and, admittedly, an oversized cinnamon roll, but no one kept track so neither did she).
It had been a long time since she stopped by the cozy bakery since. She had picked up coffees for her and Caine earlier the week before, but it had been a mad dash, and Charlotte didn’t really think it counted. She stepped through the door now looking for Harper who had suggested a meet up, feeling the need for social activity slowly seep back into her like a separate energy. Things had been difficult since Estella was born but…it’d been two years. She was ready for anything to start living again.
Charlotte caught sight of the other woman’s side profile and waved before quickly squeezing between the forming line and pushed out chairs. “I found you.” She smiled. “How are you Harper, have you ordered yet?”
iMESSAGES 📲 HARLEY.
HARPER: Hey Wesley!! I just finished the longest work out of my life and I honestly feel dead. But kind of invigorated at the same time?
HARPER: A totally useless fact about Harper, by the way!
HARPER: Anyway. I'm just texting to confirm that we're going to dinner tomorrow night still?

The 4th of July festivities left Lacey drunk and high, not only booze and weed but also on the good mood she was in. An event like this one gave her an excuse to party with all the people she grew fond of--not that she really needed any excuse to do that, she just felt like it had a completely different vibe to celebrate with the whole town by the beach instead of with a few chosen friends inside of a sweaty nightclub. Still, at some point during the night, Lacey felt herself needing a break from the crowd. She slowly walked towards a more secluded area until she heard a couple of guys whispering and whistling behind her. Annoyed, she stopped in her tracks and turned around, crossing her arms over her chest. “Can’t you bastards go annoy someone else? I’m not interested in spending time with you.” Her voice was filled with the irritation she felt, yet the two men didn’t lay off. Instead, they closed in on her as though they were challenging her to try and take it up with them. In her stubbornness, Lacey didn’t step back. She always stood her ground, even if she was outnumbered but there was a small part of her that hoped some of her friends saw what was going on and would come to help her out. Groaning in frustration, Lacey rolled her eyes and then yelled at them, “I said, leave me alone. Just fuck off, alright?”
