Punjab Kings put up an impressive – all- round show as they beat defending Champions Chennai Super Kings by 7 wickets in a Tata IPL 2024 encounter in hot and humid conditions in Chennai.
Earlier Punjab Skipper Sam Curran won the toss and opted to bowl first. Curran move was vindicated as his bowlers particularly the spinners choked the CSK batting line- up with a superb display and restricting them to a modest target 0f 162/ 7 in their 20 overs .

In reply Punjab were never under pressure . opener Prabhsimran Singh scored ( 13) before he was out . In-form Jonny Bairstow put them on track with 46 ( 30 balls, 7 fours, 1 six) . Rilee Rossouw played an entertaining knock of 43 ( 23 balls, 5 fours, 2 sixes). He was third batsman dismissed .
Shashank Singh not out 25 ( 26 balls , 1 four, 1 six) and Skipper Sam Curran not out 26 ( 20 balls, 3 fours) ensured not further loss of wickets as Punjab romped home to a comfortable 7 wicket win . Punjab reaching 163/ 3 in 17. 5 overs.
